Amazing. I will stupidly go out on a limb and hope the port above the power button is a pop up xenon flash

That looks very nice
Although the raised screen looks strange after getting used to recessed one in xperia Z

Can't wait for the official announcement and some hands on pictures of the device and made by it

EDIT:
What do you think they'll tease with next?

I am happy that Sony is considering WP8.
I can imagine that only problem Sony would have with this system is the MS native services integration (e.g. Xbox vs. PS play store etc..) Technically this OS is much better then Android. Smoother, optimized, no battery drains, no JVM issues.....you name it.

It doesn't have a File manager? Who cares, I don't have any installed on my Xperia P neither...
it doesn't have apps? Guess what, Android has 800k apps out of which only a handful is usable! Everything else has either stability or compatibility issues or is simply a rubbish!

Really I am using Android for last 3 years. Started with Xperia X10 went thru all Android iterations with currently running 4.1, but only installed 10 apps max. All of those have an equivalent in WP8 store... I think have uninstalled more apps then installed...

I also have privacy issues with Android. For example there is no way you can natively turn off notification details. Even if they are not displayed directly on the lockscreen, they still roll over in the status bar! You cannot turn it off! I don't want it! I don't want a guy sitting opposite to me during a coffee to have a chance to read my sms! Maybe you can install an app for that (that I didn't find), but that changes also other notifications and so on...
All that changed in Android from 2.3 to 4.1 is looks... nothing else... project butter is a joke, first it requires latest kernel, second it only makes a difference on vanilla Android. which 85% of people don't have!

So I am honestly disappointed by Android in last 2 years and really considering a platform change....
would be awesome If I wouldn't have to change my favorite manufacturer as well..
Hope Sony sees the potential and future and will not let me down in 2014...

Judging buy the 3.5mm jack, the phone must be very thin, maybe thinner than the Z. So the the raised screen should be very minor.

@aurelius @jianlin
The picture you posted is of the Honami due to the open headphone jack with the phone being underwater.

@Wishmaster89
The point you made about the raised screen (and just looking at it also) reminds me of the Xperia V which also had a raised screen.

It looks good, i want to see more!
What are the internals finally be?
Why are we going to be surprised?
Is there several phones announced?

@Lewko: Thank you for your testimony. The privacy protection and the java are concerns to me as i am about to switch from ios to android. But i think s800 will have enough power under the hood to alleviate the performance issues at least. I am not counting on Docomo to let the 4.3 or 5.0 updates reach customers quickly even if sony is fast.

But don't you think that the way forward for Sony would be to release their own branded flavor of ubuntu touch, optimised for their hardware, rather than pay for an unoptimised OS proven unpopular?

Finally some official pics:) STUNNING!
But will we see the back of the phone before the 9/4??

@Wishmaster89
Obviously! It's our heart that it's telling us the truth!

@lewko
You raised the correct point! Windows Phone 8 should bear with him XBox compatibility with Smartglass... And this is a BIG problem... Sony cannot support his direct competitor console... And at the same time M$ probably do not want to remove this feature for Xperia phones...! Probably Sony will not consider WP8 for this...
And also it should mean changing a lot of app for making them work on WP8, or simply do not personalise their phone... And Sony like to personalise his devices:)
Again it should be easier to port apps for Firefox OS (or maybe even Ubuntu Phone) than on WP8...
Personally I would rather prefer Ubuntu or Firefox on Sony devices.. More open, more community devolved...!:) IMHO

I think the Z1 looks set to be a winner.

If they can improve on the Z by giving it a more premium look & feel and squeeze in some winning specs too then they're onto a winner - definitely!
