From what I've seen around the web most of tech sites have been positive about Xperia ZU while there are many negative comments but it is to be expected because it's a niche device and not for everyone; it's actually in a very small segment of the market with no competitor. The dissapointing fact about public reception so far is that it has made no impact outside of tech webites; I've searched it on yahoo answers and got no results, there's so little about ZU on pinterest and twitter and same goes with other websites with high number of visitors. I think many are not aware if such device exists so let's make the small corner of the market ZU is in bigger by letting people know that it exists and actually is a useful device. |

Sony's "Triluminos" display also impresses. Gone are the days of Sony phone screens offering lackluster colors and poor viewing angles - the company's latest 1080p panel offers rich blacks, wide viewing angles and vivid colors. The Ultra's 6.44-inch panel is right up there with the latest SuperLCD3 and SuperAMOLED offerings.
Great! And let me be clear, with or without screen downgrade Honami's screen will be on par with Togari's at minimum!
I was just stating that market model might get a screen downgrade from the one prototypes are using (regarding the screen specs that I've posted).

I really hope that they do not go through with a screen downgrade for the Honami. If the Honami was truly supposed to be the beginning of One Sony then the overall company must really be in trouble (I.e. If they're supposed to be showcasing they're best and then drop the specs... Then what does that say about their best....)
Don't get me wrong, I'm still rooting for this phone and holding off on buying anything until I hear more, but I fear that if it turns out to just be an incremental update from the Z then I may have to keep looking or just get whichever Nexus device comes out next.
That said, if Honami is getting downgraded so that the camera phone concept can take it's place as the true One Sony then I'd just get the Sony camera phone. Really hope that whatever comes out next is good though, I've been dealing with a broken HTC vivid and a broken iPhone for nearly a year and would like to finally replace at least one of them haha

They won't. What I heard is Sony was able to secure the screen supply for Z Ultra and Honami. They didn't get screwed with screen suppliers like they did with the Z. With the latest info I got, Honami is an absolute beast. Nokia will definitely have to watch out |

if that's the case, then what could the screen downgrade even refer to? If they already secured enough screens for production, what could it possibly be?

Z Ultra doesn't have new UXP, it will debut first on Honami. But Z Ultra will get new UXP as an update after Honami release.

@random: So will the Honami be released on the rumored 4.3 with the new Xperia UI? My personal guess is that Sony isn't adding split screen feature on the Xperia Z Ultra because Google will add it to Android 4.3/5.0. |

Is there a possibility that the Honami will first debut in Japan Fall 2013 collection just like how the Xperia Z did? If yes, we could just have an early preview of the design and specs. |

I just noticed something and it raises more questions. Take a look at this image from the July 4th press invite SMC sent out
I think most everyone figured this was the Xperia Z Ultra. Take a look at a pic of the Z Ultra
The pics don't line up at all. The invite pic shows a shutter button and 2 covers on the side rather than one. So what in the blue frack is being shown in this invite? Honami? Another tablet? Either Sony just put some random, fake design on their invite that actually has more features than their phablet, or there's something else on the horizon. |

^Maybe the Chinese version and European Version will be different?
There will be a Sony event in France today right? we might see the answer by then )
Edit: I noticed the pen in the invitation..... Sony new Smart Pen??
