@Shaoran

Even if it doesn't have Xenon, it will have Dual Plasma flash which is as good as Xenon. I don't see why you or anyone else should be disappointed. Honami will be great, no doubt about that. Most of the specs I listed for Honami are 100% confirmed except for -

1) Type of Flash (Xenon or Dual Plasma)
2) Exact Resolution of camera (13-20 MP)
3) Exact size of Sensor (Between 1/1.8" - 2/3")

But in any case all the above 3 variables will still be outstanding at the very least.

for sensor, bigger is better right?

S4 zoom has 1/2.33" sensor, so honami should beat that for bragging rights alone!

then again, maybe i'm misunderstanding the whole sensor size stuff..

Yes that's right. Bigger the better.

Even at worst case scenario Honami will beat S4 zoom and Nokia N8.

well you just said the two options are 1/1.8 and 2/3.. if it's the 1/1.8, then it doesn't beat the S4 zoom, which is 1/2.33, right?

1/1.8" is bigger than 1/2.3".

A 1/3" sensor ( Z/S4) has an area of 17.30mm square

1/2.3" (S4 Zoom) has 28.50 mm square area

1/1.8" has 38.20mm sq area

2/3" has 58.10 mm sq area

Hi Ramu,

May i ask what you refer to when you say plasma flash vs xenon flash?

I cannot find the difference on the web.

My understanding (thank you wikipedia) is that flashtubes are lamps that contain a gaz and take it to plasma state to emmit lots of light. The most used gaz is Xenon.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashtube

So a plasma flash that is not xenon, is basically almost the same, just it uses another gaz (apparently the next most used one is krypton).

Can you shed some light please?

@ramu
Yeah...I know that honami still gonna be a good phone...but I have doubtfull that plasma flash can be as good as xenon flash...
I remember someone showed a picture from his keitai that used plasma flash...n I thought it still can not exchange the use of xenon in low light condition...I know that bigger sensor is gonna make a good pic too...but in my opinion a bigger sensor, xenon flash, good Lens, New algorithma is one package to make the rise of the planet of Sony....hehehe...

@Shaoran

True

Let's hope Xenon it is !!

@Shotokan

I don't have much info but you can see this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPSCSvGbqig

I agree with shaoran, Xenon Flash currently has no real alternative/replacement, and I too am skeptical about that so called Plasma flash since we haven't seen any major imaging companies moving to it if it's really that good or even better than Xenon tubes. I hope that news ramu had just posted is fake

No No. That part is not from me. And it's fake too. Honami is not based on ZL design and nor will it be smaller than ZL

Thanks Ramu, makes things clearer.

Not sure where the text come from, but it says the so called plasma flash is a LED with a big capacitor, supposed to generate 48 times more light than regular LED.
So it has nothing to do with plasma, which is what a xenon flash is.
I cannot say which would be best between the two, but i would tend to be sceptical it can match a (xenon plasma) flash tube. We will need to test it if that is the case, but it sounds Shaoran played with that type of flash and we have our answer.

Lets hope for a full compelling package at the camera department.

On the video, we can appreciate the progress made by Sony marketing comparing to the z campaign.
This one looks like a bad geeky commercial from fujitsu, with lower budget as they could not afford for EXILE or similar boys band!
Probably it is just not the same guys in charge
