t68i vibrate not working |

so i was playing counterstrike in an internet cafe with my friends (i was winning too ) and then my t68i started ringing, but it didn't vibrate. i got scared, went into service tests,a nd vibrate doesn't work in there either! my battery was kinda drained, little less than half left, but it still should be working, it was set to always on. i restarted it by no button, nothing. then by taking out battery, nothing. now i am worried. what should i do? has anyone else had this happen to their phone. it wasn't treated abnormally, i didn't bump it or dropp it or knock it against anything. it just stopped working outta the blue and i know it worked before. this sucks so bad. i'm thinking of going back to best buy and seeing if they will exchange it, i bought it 1-20-03 and have the receipt. will it be under the 14 or 30 day policy? i guess i'll see tomorrow. i will be extremely grateful for any advice. thank you.
and before anyone asks, it wasn't in a charger and had nothing attached at the bottom of it. |

Happened to me too, just few days after i bought it. Try to hit ur phone- it's most probably bocked. It helped to me, and few others. If it won't do, i guess you're out of luck. If u live in SC nieghbourhood, i'd still go with the phone and let them have a look (i don't, that's why i didn't go, but after a little "shock therapy" it works fine now) |

i got my a few days ago and yesterday when i was in the service test menu the vibrate wouldnt work. i got a bit worried and turned my phone off and on and then it worked again. i am guessing it might also be just a software issue with you.
i have problems with my screen saver not coming on, not even the clock!

@Punkserb, The vibe motor is mechanical & they can stick , a little tap down below the zero button on the front of the phone should sort it, also two little spring contacts touch on the circuit board to make the connection for the motor & these can give trouble, if non of these work or you want it looked at remember you have a full years manufacturers warranty against faults. i had a t68 for over a year & for a few days the vibe stopped working but never happened again. |

Thanks guys for all the help and suggestions!
HAHAHAH!!!! OK i know you won't believe me, i fixed it, but how i did it i'm still laughing! i looked all over and posted on esato my problem. MKT (thank you for the idea) told me he had the same problem and since he didn't have an SE center near him to go to, he just hit the phone and it worked, the connection was bad between mainboard and vibrator. so i figure what the hell, and gave it a good (but gentle) whack on my wrist. go to service menu, vibrate works, but VERY weak. to test it, i put on the walk ringtone, and it didn't walk .
so i figured i'd check the connection and i opened up the phone (found instructions, not as bad as i thought it would be).
Guess what i found!!! there was a hair in the vibrate motor that stopped it from spinning!!!! i told you wouldn't beleive me!!!
so i took out the motor, and carefully took out the hair. i was lucky a big strand was sticking out so i could pull it out with tweezers, cuz if it was all in there i would prolly have to get a new vibrate motor.
so i took it out, and my t68i can walk again!!! its a miracle!!!
SE needs to start making their employees wear hair nets!! LOL! now if only i could find the hair that the r6a flash put into my bluetooth....
thanks again for all the help and support! I love SE and Esato!

Well thats good to hear, but it`s not SE hair it`s more likely yours, i have cleaned many t68i`s & there is always a hair or two in them because of the gaps on the phone (Around joystick is the main place), dust is a huge problem as you will find, & it`s likely you will be cleaning your phone out regularly while you own it, about every month if you don`t use a case.

the question isn't who's hair is it,
it's what type of hair!

How did you figure out how to open the phone?
Don't you need a special screw-driver?
Are their instructions on the WEB anywhere?
thanks |

yea, i got them at www.totonox.com too, great guide. but you have to register to the site to see it.
i also hope it won't void anything, but i can't see how it could. i left no scratches from screwdrivers and inside there were no stickers or tape or anything like that that can make SE aware of me opening the phone.i used my fingernails as much as i could cuz those can't scratch the phone, wereas a screwdriver can do some damage. i think i'll be alright. still can't beleive a hair got in there and i know it wasn't mine cuz i have dark brown hair and the one inside was blonde (figures ) LOL! |

fjbert i am actually worried because the screen saver and clocks dont come on. i mean SE made the clock for a reason and i am guessing not to burn the images onto the screen... so now i am always worried if the clock doesnt work i will ruin my screen :S |
