Sometimes I feel nokia is doing more to push Windows Phone as an OS than Microsoft...

The WP platform would be lost without Nokia's push. HTC doesn't have that kind of influence, and Samsung doesn't care.. which is why Nokia chose WP I guess.

not that microsoft is doing a lot anyways... my Lumia 920 has 7GB in the "others" folder and no indication from Microsoft when this will be addressed. Lots of WP7.5 phones haven't got their 7.8 upgrade yet. Yet on my Blackberry Z10 I have since 2 days ago I've got 2 updates with system fixes.

others folder is the storage of files that does not fall in the rest of the listed category.
it may include maps, things from facebook, some apps, and etc.

try uninstall Fhotoroom app, if you had it installed, and see if the other folder shrunk in size or not,
no worries since u can always reinstall it back

Isn't it possible to set a maximum to "other folder"?

My 'other' folder keeps going up and down. Seems to be a some sort of system cache we cannot access. As for updates,Nokia is better than most it's just 7.8 was pulled due to tile update issue. Many 7.5 handsets have the update now including a mate of mine who got his on O2 yesterday.

you cannot set a size limit to it.
it is dynamic storage.

I find whatsapp uses alot of battery since it is using the music API to always stay connected.
I found a new IM apps, called Hike, its developed in India. (well alot of indians works in silicon valley, so never underestimate them)
dont bother the free sms thing in the app since it only works in india.

its a good replacement for whatsapp, and most important is free..

i introduced it to my android fren and he likes it. his whatsapp gonna expire in a month and not willing to fork out money for something that can be achieved for free..

it is a crossplatform,
windows phone, android, ios, nokia asha, and coming soon for blackberry device http://get.hike.in/

for windows phone user, get it here http://windowsphone.com/en-in[....]38-092f-4144-826a-3e3d41f50714
