My Hazel is working fine but a few days ago the start up screen starting showing a greyish rectangle box with word today at the top. i have no start-up screen or screen saver picked. this box disappears when i choose the menus option. i have disconnected the battery but on restart it appears again. i have tried a partial reset but to no avail.
anyone any ideas? the phone is working perfectly otherwise

Maybe something is wrong with the default startup screen animation, like they're unable to find the file or a file error maybe. Try changing to a startup screen image & see if it will show up properly.

Thanks for the suggestion. i have put in a start up picture and although it can be seen it is somewhat hidden by the strange greyed box which sits in the centre of the screen directly over it. |

Probably it's a firmware bug. What's its version?

Re-installing your firmware should fix it.
Try SEUS and choose update anyway or repair.
Don't forget to backup first.
