So, this is the end of the road the MeeGo team at Nokia, as Head of Development of MeeGo Sotiris Makrygiannis joined by other team members announced they are parting ways with the Espoo company.

Those are the same people responsible for the birth of devices such as the N770, N800, N810, N900, N950 and, of course, the N9. Currently, there's a thread over at the Maemo forums, where people can say 'Thank you' and wish the team good luck in their future endeavors.

We are now waiting for Intel and Samsung to come up with the first devices running on the MeeGo-based Tizen OS. Here's hoping that they bring as much innovation as the Nokia N9 did back in the days.

Wish they would merge with Android and prove how stupid of a decision it was that Mr "Stupid" Elop was made the boss of the company Meego has so much untapped potential that if Google acquires them it will make Android more powerful and robust. I particularly liked its "lightness" which is just as light as Symbian if not lighter.

Meego is backed by intel so google would not be able to purchase it unless they wanted to sell it off. It will be around, just not with nokia.

How sad.

Nokia had a great chance here. The thought of a MeeGo Nokia, with Galaxy S3 specs and the 808's Camera...my GS2 is pooping itself at the thought.
This OS had huge amounts of potential, its UI was well ahead of its time, i wont be suprised when Google and Apple borrow ideas from it.

Im glad Samsung and Intel are working on a new version of it, im going to watch it like i watched Android go from rumours to the 1st generation of devices.
