Hi Moderators,
I'm surprised this isn't I store already
But anyway seeing that a lot of younger
Members are joining I would appreciate
If you added a Explicit Word block on the site
Blocking offensive stuff would satisfy myself
And stop people being fools
cheers! |

Haha yes those words that people
Find intimidating and offensive would be
A start the English ones especially
Just surprised there's nothing here already
I've got the option on my forum to stop this
So esato needs it too |

I thought it was blocked on the main forum? But I doubt its blocked in the garbage threads, but besides, I never see anyone swearing on here in the general forums, only times when it happens are flame wars. But memebers here respect each other most of the time..

Miss UK has a point!
personally I've cursed once or twice out of pure frustration & lack of more powerful communicative words and I've been warned about it via PM from a moderator and also suspended for 1 week!
There are a few mods here Miss UK that do pay attention and use their power very wisely. Hopefully most of us will begin to take notice and help out, even against ourselves. is there a report this post button anywhere?

Ive gotta agree here on Esato theres never been the same nonesense you get on other forums which is why ive stuck around so long. There has been the odd flame war but nothing the mods cant deal with quickly.
Sadly since Masseur left the forum it has felt a little less policed imo, but im sure it'll carry on just as it did and the other mods will make up for what we've lost.

One of the best things about Esato though is that it tends be largely self moderating, I haven't encountered much swearing.

It generally is kept tidy here at Esato
But the Non Mobile area has become abit of a Swear zone
And I want to appoligise for it cos it was generally btw myself
And Bonovox but he did submit foul language whereas I didn't
So if I have upset anyone I now Appologising for this on my own
Behalf!!!
Btw I hope laffen approves of the block of offensive
Language it must be extremely horrible coming here for the first
Time seeing it and of all places to a site that provides a source
Of helpful mobile technology! |

Well it can't leave a good first impression with newbies? I hate it when you visit a blog or website and the comments section is nothing but people slagging each other off and trading insults. I click off almost immediately.

Agreed goldenface. Light use of swear words in a joking manner I think is ok but not when it's used maliciously or with bad intent. I'm sure the mods here would have noticed if any filter needs to be applied to the forum though.

Sometimes it's good to swear... I agree extreme works such as f**k and c**t etc should be banned but posting thoughts/opinions I think the occasional work is all right as long as it's never towards a user.
Let's do a quick list of words and see what Esato blocks.
Edit: okay from that I gather that it makes 'f**k', 'f**k' and it oddly changes 'c**t' to 'cool' but no other words are blocked...
Oh would you just turkey off you're really starting to annoy the donkey out of me you little shoe

Lol you guys
Btw just a other thought to be considered
The political stuff I've noticed this causes mixed
Reviews sometimes and topics end up getting locked
I myself personally do not approve of war and terrorism
It's fact that it happens but it's really awful!! |

Many discussions about politics, religion or operating systems have a very good chance of being locked eventually

Actually, there's an automatic parser. Although not all the words are included there. But, as we are wise people, there's no need of using these words.
