Hi, today I replaced the flex on this phone making it work fine, the only issue is now when I slide it open, it does not unlock like it used too, it just doesn't react. I can't figure out if there is some sensor that I damaged when taking it a part?

Any help appreciated

That's much likely. Did you try taking it apart and put it all again?

Yeah I'll take the cover off and turn it on and troubleshoot that way tomorrow, I'm fixing it for a friend as the screen flex was broken so I can't really go "yeah its fixed, oh but the screen doesn't lock"

Try a different flex cable.

Solved!

I took it back apart and got another fully working w995 and also took it a part. Turned them both on while unassembled and spent a good couple of hours figuring out how they work. Located the part that makes it lock, and eventually found a magnetic square which sits behind the earphone/ff camera and when it comes into contact with the strip when the phone is closed it signals the phone to lock. So I was convinced I had lost this little bit and put them back together again, quite annoyed. Then today I was sitting at by desk, and picked up the old flex and I noticed the metal square was attached to it! Couldn't believe it, so I reopened the phone and placed it on the new flex and now it all works!

Quite relived
