Today i did it, ordered a Siemens S55!
I know what you think and are going to say.. but to me the S55 is the T68i Ericsson failed to build. I will post my personal review in a couple of weeks time when i have gotten used to it.
The car industry has had itīs Corvette 68 convertibles and Cadillac -59's and in the world of mobile phones surely the T68(i) has itīs place in the hall of fame _but_ time doesnīt stand still, and i have not been converted to SE worshipper with my T68.. itīs just a little too slow and tedious for me to fall head over heels.
I will definetly keep hanging out here even if iīm now officially an infidel
Cheers!

There's nothing wrong in buying a Siemens S55. I agree that the T68 has almost certainly secured a place in the mobile phone Hall of Fame Even if it is getting on a bit, it's still better than a lot of phones out there. |

@ThreeX, Nice looking, but if it flickers or turns off all the time by itself, don`t put up with it, take it back.

@pachy
I donīt put up with anything thatīs wrong with ANY phone..
Come to think of it, i have had three phones (out of ten) since -96 that never gave me any trouble whatsoever: Nokia 2110i, Siemens S6 *boy was it ugly and had loathsome standby though* and Nokia 6210
The rest has been more or less bug infested and unreliable in general.
I have come to the conclusion that ALL phones today is shite generally speaking. It all boils down to being lucky and getting one of the occasional gems that leave the factory
Btw it totally eludes me how the t68(i) can get such massive following of worshippers when you read every single day here @esato about all kinds of quirks and bugs even after the god knows what.. 24:th fw version? Donīt get me wrong, i liked my t68 and i might get another if the price continues to avalanche but it IS getting long in the (blue)tooth Kinda like installing Windows XP on a Pentium 75mhz..
Latest news flash: Siemens is about to release S55i.. 4096 color screen, mp3 compatible (for ringtones iīd guess) memory up to 4Mb Oh well.. just goes to show that no matter how long you wait thereīs always new sparkling toys at the horizon..
Cheers!

I donīt know what my next phone will be.. i have learnt that itīs a good thing not to slag any make since they might eventually come up with a very nice model you just _got to_ have
Besides, my 6210 was reliable as an anvil.. almost boring! So.. who knows..
cheers!

@ThreeX, Yea, i owned a t68/i for 1yr & 2mnths, NO problems. my earlier post was just alerting people to the problems s55 owners are reporting after owning the phones for a week, thats all.

I promised a review, but being a lazy bastard i found two new reviews online tonite, and as they pretty much sum up my experience too i take the liberty of putting the links here..
PS: I donīt agree on the "weak reception" thing. Mine is definetly better than my t68i!

Hey ThreeX
Yes, please give us your personal thoughts/comparisons regarding the S55. It seems like a great phone, and if I wasn't saving up to eventually buy the P800, I would seriously consider getting an S55. So let us know what you think of it! |

Well, what can i say that isnīt said on the two sites i posted?
Itīs a gem really..
Iīd describe it as a t68i with all the features i wished for and none of the quirks or problems..
All the little things.. You can get rid of operator logo.. you can see incoming messes and missed calls even in powersave (black screen)mode.. You can save pics in .bmp to get rid of ugly dithering.. polytones assignable to whatever event you want.. works like a charm with HBH30.. loads of fields in contacts like adress and birthday reminders... I could go on and on but youīd just think i was boring and anti - SE which Iīm not , really. I just havenīt been that impressed, yet anyway. The t68(i) was the law west of Pecos til the S55 came along, but now thereīs a new sheriff in town. (and i donīt count the swiss army phone, P800. Lovely as it might be i donīt label it a phone.
