Disconnect and update again. Use a port at the back of the computer.

You're probably better going to a dedicated S2 forum or on XDA etc. but good luck with that sounds awful.

Halfway through flashing...it just has the android robot, says downloading...do not turn off target...and the line showing the progress is at about halfway on the screen...on Odin it is about halfway for the progress screen also. This is about an hour since it is stuck there as I am afraid and uncertain what next to do. Do I remove the cord and try again?

Halfway through should be okay. I would try to recover it with Kies.

Will try Kies...anyone else?
Okay, got it to power off...it is requesting that I select recovery mode in Kies, will try that but before it was not even recognizing Kies. Will need to get a jig.

Guys, I am able to get it back into download mode but when I try to update with Odin it only goes to the same point as before. I suspect that I might be using something incorrect. I followed all the instructions so far but just stuck at the point of trying to update with Odin.

There seems to be something wrong with the firmware that I am trying to update to. I managed to try to root and got it done to the point where the phone went to the start up saying Samsung Galaxy S2 GT i9100 like on a regular start up. It seems I need to grab the correct firmware for my phone. I have been using the one on this page that corresponds to my region which is the Caribbean, I chose Trinidad and Tobago.

I think I might be doing something wrong. Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

did you by chance not have to flash a new kernel before installing the new firmware.from experience a phone booting up to the manufacturers logo and not going any further has always been a kernel issue.

about odin only going a certain amount through the process and then getting stuck at the same point on more than one occassion sounds to me like something wrong with that downloaded firmware file.

dont worry about bricking.there is always a way to revive the phone.its just damn scary when you have a dead phone.you feel like such an idiot.then you get it back working and what do you do.the exact same thing that killed it in the first place. lol

I really dont know cause Im unsure what you actually did.
Did you have Kies running in your system tray when flashing using Odin?
That guy says you must close Kies before using Odin because it flash blocks you.Thats what could have happened to you when it stopped half way through.I dont know.Just a thought.
