So Yuga will be the best all around? Except for the Q3-4 that will come with a slightly better CPU and GPU?

The camera on the Q3-4 will be noticeable better than Yuga?

And according to rumours, it can be either a 16 Mp camera or a 13 Mp one?

What's is the ExmorR CMOS sensor and Pulse LED Flash? Which one is all around better? And what do you mean with "the former is more likely"?

Sorry for all those questions

aurelius, does your friend know if Sony is going to use the Novathor A9600 in any Xperia phone next year?

I doubt Novathor cpu's will be used; unless ST already has seriously high-yields produced. Ericsson & ST are already on the verge of selling the micro processor unit and will shut it down.

The 50-50 partnership hasn’t turned profitable since it was formed in 2009. Geneva-based ST-Ericsson said in July the second-quarter net loss widened to $318 million from $221 million a year earlier. In April the venture announced a plan to eliminate 1,700 jobs and on July 1 completed the transfer of its application processor development team to STMicroelectronics as part of a program to trim costs.
“ST-Ericsson is too small for its research and development to remain competitive,” said Hakan Wranne, a Stockholm-based analyst at Swedbank AB. “It’s something they should divest. It’s hard to find a reason for them to keep the company.”
STMicroelectronics was up 5.3 percent as of 2:35 p.m. in Paris trading, giving the company a market value of 4.13 billion euros ($5.35 billion).
ST-Ericsson mandated JPMorgan to study strategic options, Les Echos reported today. The newspaper also reported that STMicroelectronics and the French state are in talks on research and development investments at a nanotechnology plant in Crolles, southeastern France.

Good news is France state may bail them and assist in R&D advancements.

We'll see as I'd LIKE to see ST-E Succeed and best even Qualcomm.

It looks like there will be no ODIN or YUGA on AT&T.

Spectre51 @ XDA
It will have ATT LTE bands but won't be available through a carrier. AT&T changed their minds and decided not to pick it up for some reason. So will have to pay full price for it unless AT&T changes their mind again.

Yeah, was asleep after a long Borderlands 2 session

Also from the same NeoGAF thread here's another more recent comment from zomgbbqftw:

As far as I know (and this is subject to change, it is Sony after all) they have a 6" 1080p phablet in the works for Q2. It is a quad core S4 Pro with LTE and floating touch/glove mode/pen mode for super accurate pen input.

I have also heard that a new 9.4" tablet is in the works, but as yet not many details other than it having a much higher resolution than the current Xperia Tablet S.

Tino - Like I said previously, Sony are looking to exit from their relationship with Qualcomm because of the favouritism they show to HTC. What moves they will make to enable this I don't know, but ST-E will be put up for sale soon and I think Sony are very interested as it gives them a fully integrated SoC and baseband solution ready to go at 28nm and 32nm as well as a large chunk of LTE related IP. I'm not even sure they would have to break the bank, less than what was paid for Ericsson's share of SE and right now getting hold of an integrated SoC and LTE baseband designer is a big deal as it will allow them to tell Qualcomm to f**k off.

So possibility of floating touch making a return and pen mode, hopefully along the lines of what we're seeing in Sonys new VAIO Duo 11 or better.

As for Sony being interested in purchasing ST-E, I know we've discussed it here before, and really hope they go for it.

EDIT.
Also, this talk of a newer tablet with a higher res display is exciting, but I wonder when it's due. If it's due late 2013, then fine, but if it's due early 2013 then how expensive is it supposed to be considering the price point of the recently launched Xperia Tablet S?

They sound like some great specs for Yuga - I hope the rumours are true and I can't wait to see the design of the 2013 range.

A commenter on swedroid said it looked like a giant iPhone. Spectre51 on xda said it would be all glass and flat so maybe that's true

On Topic, I thought vivftp would post this but seems he isn't online. zomgbbqftw from NeoGaf forums posted this :

Yuga.1080p 5" screen, S4 Pro (quad core), LTE and I have heard that it has a mega battery (2500-2800mAh) and 32GB plus microSD slot.

Releases in Europe and Japan in Q1, US date and networks not set, but I have heard AT&T and VZW are very interested. There is also a 6" phablet planned for Q2 (1080p, same internal as Yuga) and a Q4 5" flagship with an as yet unset SoC (ST-E L9600 is what I have heard, but it is still early days) is also in the works, again 1080p 5" almost no bezel.

The 1080p screens are from JDI, not Sharp so the quality is unknown right now as they haven't been previewed yet by any news outlets but I have been told that they boast massive native contrast ratios and very decent colour reproduction.

And finally, Sony are about to release their first set of Jelly Bean updates for the Xperia T/TX, S and Acro S. My best estimate is 10-15 days from now. Also, the Xperia TL will be out in around two weeks and the update should roll out very quickly (within days of release as it is undergoing final testing right now).

I have no ETA on the V, it was mid November for UK and Japan, but since then it has changed (possibly brought forward).

As you can see whatever he's saying matches with what I posted and also unknown13x said the same thing on XDA yesterday. He also talked about the 10 inch Xperia tablet coming in 2013 with Bravia Engine and Exmor R. So yeah the rumors can now be be considered as Category 5 rumors (extremely close to reality)

Yes Yes YES, awesome news

NovaThor L9600 28nm 2.5 GHz Dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 with PowerVR Series6 (Rogue) Dual-channel GPU and LTE integrated modem. This may be on par with a Quad Core S4 Pro but it will very hard for Sony to market a dual core phone to compete against quad cores. A lot of people believe that a Quad core is more powerful than a dual core processor just because it is a quad core.

@Felimenta97

Yuga/Odin are the same as I said, there is no "better" between them. It's subjective, like T and TX.

Yes, camera will be quite improved in the Q3-Q4 2013 flagship. ( Seems like the 2H flagship is being pushed to Q4 now)

What I meant was most probably it will use 16 mp Exmor R sensor as he 13 mp Exmor RS sensor isn't quite ready for mass deployment yet.

Pulse LED flash is a slightly stronger version of LED flash as seen in T

@motovikt

That sounds really nice. I guess it looks like a miniature Monolithic Bravia TV

Somewhat like this concept by remort1

@Hardened

As far as I know the 2H flagship is slated to use MSM8974 but not sure if they decided to change their mind, and it's still very early stage so they very well might swap SoC easily.

@Dacha

As he said it's still not confirmed yet, so don't be completely sure just yet. It may or may not be true depending on whether or not AT&T want to sell it or not. Most likely they will sell the Odin.Though Of course it all depends on how well the TL sells. If the TL is a great success then AT&T will definitely be selling the Odin.

Hey guys, I have been a lurker here on esato and I've decided to jump in just now.

question to randomuser..

Is Odin somehow similar to this phone?

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4GuqB1BQVr4

@20 seconds, there's this phone with completely no bezel and seems to be made with glass back and front.

(forgive me it's justin beiber LOL)

@Randomuser;

About that Q4 flagship, do you have any info on the amount of RAM and what GPU will be used (Adreno 320 or maybe a successor)?

Any idea how it will hold up to competition in terms of specs/benchmarks at that time?

Would you recommend buying Odin or waiting for that Q4 flagship?

I would most certainly go for Odin but when you mentioned OLED screen and (what seems to be) a much better processor, made me seriously rethink the whole thing.

Thanx for all the info, btw... Cheers!
