Yes, YES, YES! EXACTLY! That's why I love the old SE phones and the 2011 Xperias. "variety of elements and accents" - that's the key here! As I said, the 2012 Xperias are just way too simple black bricks, they have nothing distinctive, unlike the older models. Even the Galaxy S3 is better for that matter ( you know - the round shape and the button with strange shape in the middle ). Not to mention the Motorola or Lumia ( I already posted some pics in the other thread ). That's one of the things I hate in Sony - the boring design. Remember the good old times:

You see? Sony has never ever been good in design. I can even see the shadow of my Xperia Pro in that T68!
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand...

@Dups, yeah you're right, but given the choice I'd rather tell SoC companies to concentrate further on GPUs rather than CPUs instead. imagine the extra space for the 2 core to be allocated instead for the GPU, that'll be a much better decision imho

@NightBlade

I won't blame samsung for that, Apple is to blame here, they have huge followers, and anything Jobs would want to show on an apple Expo becomes hit, no matter how uninspiring it looks design wise. Samsung simply copied Apple's design idea not because they think it's better than their own headturning designs but because Samsung's target audience have already fell in love for iPhones. and it's not just samsung and Sony, every one in the mobile phone business now trails Apple's idea. It's ridiculous imho, people need to wake up

I actually don't mind (read: like a lot) the Xperia S design, because, minimalist as it is, it's fresh. They hadn't taken minimalism to that point before.
However, they're taking it a bit too far now. The tipo, go, miro and sola all have the same bland look. The acro S is just boring. The only redeeming feature of the Ion is the metal back and of Mint and Hayabusa - the concave back.

So true ^_^ mate. I missed the days of dual front designs, clamshells, sliders that looks like a camera at the back!

Could you guys please create a separate thread for design discussion please? It's becoming a mess all over again.

Anyway onto something more on topic, the Xperia GX bookings started today and a total of 20000 people booked the GX just today. It will go on sale tomorrow. That number is higher than the Xperia Acro HD and Galaxy S3 first day bookings in Japan.

Also 1 million Acro HD sold so far in Japan. GX will surely do much better than even the Acro HD which has so far been the best selling smartphone in Japan. Also tomorrow SX bookings start and similar numbers are expected for the SX as well.

Also another BIG rumor going around now that Sony will launch Vita OS smartphones and tablets "soon", which could mean next year.

Further news is awaited on this.

And please, don't go off topic again here. If you wanna discuss about design or sony in general or anything just create a new thread. Let's keep this thread clean now on.

Also since most people would ignore the last few pages, check out my post on page no 238. I posted about GX Japan sales

Next you will need something like octa-core I guess?

RAZR is good phone, a stylish one except Motorola's software engineering is weak and unable to deliver proper software for it.

Android + Xenon for god sake, how battery will last ... 4-5 hours? after a few of Xenon shot.

After Xenon-flash generation, screen brightness and faster internet connection are among the most effective battery drainer.

Of course, Android OS is design for all-active connection in general usage.

Vita OS? I'm a bit skeptical with this, why do Sony have to make this when we already have PSM?

any links for that?

Another ugly and hell boring stupid black brick...

Please tell me, really, how do you distinguish them? The only thing I can say when I see a picture of a 2012 Xperia phone is whether it's part of the NXT series or not... Nothing more. Because they all are the same! This kind of design got boring after the release of the first two phones ( S and Ion ).

randomuser you're not better than anybody else... posts on GX sales in japan are not "on topic" cause it's not a rumor!

maybe you should start your own thread for sony news, business, and sales reports?

I do agree design discussion should be limited to specifics of rumored devices and not a general discussion on sony/se design over the last 10 years.

Agreed. The reason I brought up this discussion was because of Hayabusa and Mint's designs.
