Is there a shortcut to toggle bluetooth on and off on the T68i? The only way that I can find to do it is to go through the menus which is tedious for this in particular. I do have bluetooth prefs in my shortcuts spot #1 so that I can't jump to that, but there's still several menus to drill down through from there....

Did you know that shortcut spot one is also the same as holding joystick left?

I have it for Write New SMS.

Yes, but you still have to navigate through several more menus. What I'd want is something like BT Toggle for PalmOS where pressing and holding the power button toggles bluetooth on/off. Obviously via some other keypress on a T68i. I was hoping there was a shortcut I had missed....

From the standby screen press the option button and choose receive item. This temporarily activates BT and IR.

You could set receive item as the first shortcut, and then turn it on with just a left press of the joystick.

Its a security issue. Unlike nokia's which is our target for bluejacking, you have to set the phone to discoverable in order for you to pair.

security issue? what so when we are on discoverable anyone can access our phone without us knowing??! i dont think so, well i hope not anyway. the fact that you can leave bt on is soo much better.. discoverable for 3 min. wahooo, not, what if you want to send stuff back nd forth for a period of time in a classroom or in a meeting, you allways have to tell them to turn it on, it's pants.

@dazbradbury: the whole idea about pairing is to do so with units you trust. Simply pair your friends and you can connect with them amayw.

Thanks! That works well and with the other tip to make it shortcut one I now have more or less what I want. However for it to work I found you have to have Bluetooth set to "automatic" mode. If it's set to "off" it will just tell you it's off an only switch on infrared.

As for why, that's because bluetooth eats the battery and I get much better standby/talk time with it off and turn on only when needed. On top of that I find the flashing blue light to be a bit annoying. I rather wish I could disable both of the lights.
