surprisingly, that was one of the first things that caught my attention.

I have a friend with a vdub camper and I'm so envious as good ones are so hard to come by...

but I don't mind faking it

I was quite tempted by the "Entwicklung und Bau einer neuen Phonomachine" but after 6 years + working in Germany that didn't give any clue as to what it was about so... I must unfortunately decline in cas its something I would prefer to, er, decline

I have got to say that the seabreacherX looks great, wouldn't mind having a go with that.

£1300 is nothing for a turntable, when wood isn't good enough and you move onto marble, granite, and tracked tone arms then you're talking serious wonga, I myself only have a Rega P2, but I want a new deck, having spent £250 on 8 records at the weekend I need something very good to play them on!

most records sound better than CD, not as clinical, more depth and a warmth you can't get from CD.

Vinyl, 11 bit depth at the most with a good pressing, singal to noise in the range of -60db vs 16bit via cd and signal to noise up to -110db, vinyls poor crosstalk (channel seperation) of -20 - -30db vs -60db+ for cd.

The cd is technically superior technology has moved forward, the noise & disortion possibly rumble of vinyl is what you mistake for more warmth and a more analog sound, the cd has no noise or disortion of audiable levels it's just the music nothing else thats why you describe it as clinical.
