It has to be said this is one in the eye for all those that trumpeted Flash as the killer feature of the iphone's competitors - a tacit admission from Adobe that even they know mobile flash was never good enough, and now no longer has a future.
A posthumous 1-0 to Mr Jobs, too.

This is not entirely true.
Flash for PC will be still developed.
And mobile Flash will be still updated...

It is entirely true - the post (and the linked article) is about mobile flash as found on android and blackberry phones, not the desktop - and the updates for mobile will be necessary security patches only, and presumably not indefinitely.
That said, it will hasten the death of flash on the desktop too, as devs move even more to HTML5 to future-proof their sites and support mobile devices (I'm sure tablets and mobiles must increasingly be taking over from desktops as the target market anyway). Make no mistake, this is Adobe cutting their losses and ceding the future of rich media to HTML5 over Flash (albeit HTML5 preferably developed via their own flash-based authoring tools). Flash on the desktop will become another legacy product soon.
It really does vindicate Apple's position - Adobe wouldn't be doing this unless they realised themselves that flash on mobile was either unworkable, irrelevant, or both.

Luckily Androids do both Flash and HTML5, so no loss there, theres still going to be many sites that require flash for a long while before HTML5 full dominates.
Theres still an update to Flash coming to that will apparently add full hardware acceleration to Flash in Android phones, so its not all over yet.

Funny enough Bono your GS2 is highly capable when it comes to Flash, plays 1080P Flash vids flawlessly, that thing is a machine!
I just hope all these sites quickly switch to HTML5 then, personaly dont mind either Flash or HTML5 both my smartphone and tablet support both standards anyway

True indeed & it's been a phone I been happy with. Hallelujah  But I do not bother with flash or playing You Tube on my phone anyway. Though I do download videos on my pc in HD & put them on my phone. The Coldplay video Every Teardrop is a Waterfall looks amazing on it's screen. Anyway back on topic

It's going to make it a bit harder for android manufacturers (and RIM) to differentiate their products from Apple, particularly in the tablet market - one of the most common marketing claims for device X, Y or Z was that it "does flash" - now that's going to have a hollow ring. Of course arguably it did anyway since it never hurt Apple's sales.

So what? It's not like Android doesn't support html5, it does. We already knew this was coming but in the mean time adobe and andoid filled the html5 gap and provided us with the option for full web experience and it's been amazing to be able to do that while having bragging rights over iPhans so no regrets and thanks android and adobe

Exactly, having both worlds has been awesome, as of right now many websites still use Flash, it will be quite a long time before HTML5 dominates so its still great to have a device that will do both Flash and HTML5.

By the way, Android is not a global powerhouse because of Adobe Flash. It's because it offers choice to the masses, it offers different pricing range for different target groups and offers an open-ended way of using one's device. Apple, has none of these traits and will continue to not have them. How's that for differentiation

You're quite right, Android isn't a "powerhouse" because of flash, and that's obviously a point not lost on adobe, hence their announcement. It's the world's number one simply because it offers one of the closest experiences you can get to an iPhone, in an OS which is given away for free by its developer (as part of a wider marketing strategy) and can therefore be made available at a wide variety of price points by a wide variety of manufacturers.
No more, no less.

Look, long before Henry Ford commercialized the automobile industry there were a number of others who made cars but didn't quite get it right. So other manufacturers from Honda to Ferrari built on what worked because that's what technology is all about. If only Mr. Jobs had grasped the concept of technology for the betterment of the world. Btw, my wife (and a million others) hates the call answer slider so I just downloaded an app for her to answer with hardware key simply because someone said they wanted something. No more, no less

huh? what has Honda and Ferrari making cars after Ford got to do with "betterment of the world"? (btw, betterment!?).
and honestly, I appreciate personal choice as much as the next but "hating" a slider to answer a call in preference to a pressing a button is a little extreme. Too many people these days (millions apparantly) are getting way too upset over such trivial things in life when there is so much more that is important and meaningful for your "betterment of the world"! but... its good that a simple app download made these people lives oh! so much better
reality check needed methinks...
