get iPad 2 now or wait for iPad 3? |

Hi everyone,
yep, I know how to search for info on the net and I know the specifications are not available, pure conjecture..
but...get iPad 2 now and enjoy using..... or wait for iPad 3? iPad 3 could be 6 months away.
I will research about new Sony S Tablet vs Sony P Tablet vs Galaxy 10.1 Tablet vs iPad 2 vs iPad 3
but it would be good to hear opinons from Esato members who use the iPad 2.
Oh! I think I would get the 64 gb WiFi version if I do get the iPad 2..
Thanks! Off for a nap, then back to search.

I have a white 32gb 3G iPad 2 on 3 and it 's excellent there isn't many places where I don't get a 3G signal. I use it for everything from twitter esato etc to compleating my time sheet for work. When I visit my Daughters and connect via wifi it's very good also to be honest I haven't had any problems with it at all.
I have some of the Same games on my iPad and iPhone 4 and they are so much better on the big screen....bit obvious I know but has to be said. The keyboard is good to type on and when I use a laptop now it feels weird because I use the iPad so much.
I can see the point of waiting for iPad 3 but 12 months after that comes out iPad 4 could be out..... So when do you stop waiting and buy one.

thanks for your opinion nicv27 !
I think about waiting because it would be only 3-4 months! Yes, use and enjoy now or wait..
Also if I wait, I can check out what else is released, new colour Kindle etc.
I will do some serious thinking over the weekend!

people like us don't wait, do we?
and besides, 3 or 4 months, there'll be something else you can wait for 3-4 months after that!
ipad 2 is an excellent bit of kit, and my use of it is probably 75% different to what I use my iphone for so there is very little overlap really.
The best part is that many apps are universal so you only pay once to get them on al your iOS devices

Hi masseur,
yes, I am tempted not to wait, ... and go into town tomorrow and get one!
wondering about the magnetic cover made by Apple or whether to search out a more substantial looking leather cover.
Any views on covers most welcomed!

I have the blue vinyl magnetic cover and its perfect. you can also get a leather smart cover from apple.
there are even 3rd party smart covers available now which are much cheaper and do exactly the same, however Apple have just updated their smart cover range so that, for example, the vinyl ones have the same colour on both sides of the cover. Previously they were all grey on the inside.

I will,
my only thought is to check out, for myself, the new Sony P Tablet,,,, but I don't think that would be so much different from the Galaxy 7" Tablet running 2.3.3 Kratos rom, except for it's clam shell form, making it pocketable.
And then, of course, I still have nowt to run my Apple Apps on!
Might have to wait till next Wednesday to go...

Hi !!
Bought a white iPad 64gb today. WiFi model and also red leather Smart Cover!
Would like another kind of sleeve to fit it all in later!
I set some things up in store, and will do more later!
Any advice and tips welcomed!
I also know MacRumors so will check that site out too!

ha! knew you would. how can you resist... and I'd say 75% of the ipad 2's i've seen are white.
surprised you didn't go for 3g though... was there a reason for that? with my original ipad and the 2 I couldn't think if having such a device out and about without data capabilities at all times. even though I have a mifi it may run out of power or whatever... the thought just scares me of not being connected

hi masseur,
yes, I thought about the 3g version too, and decided that tethering to my phone would be good enough. I tested it instore with my phone and was happy enough with it. I used my Galaxy Tablet during my last trips to Japan and Cyprus and was happy with using WiFi only on it.
Maybe I will be proven wrong..! wait and see! But I am almost fully retired now so will watch the pennies more!
Now thinking which apps to check out and more setting up to do!!

tomtom works great on the ipad 2. I've even bought a cheap car mount and cigarette lighter adaptor charger for it.
some of the mags are pretty good too, such as T3, Focus, igizmo and newspapers like mailonline, times, and even the sun!
lots of tv type apps like iplayer, 4 on demand, Sky go (if you have sky), ITV player, TVCatchup etc.
The lovefilm app is good if you use that service. actually there's two apps. one for managing your renatals and one for actually streaming movies.
I use the apple office type software quite a bit (pages, numbers, keynote)
imdb and flixter a great apps if you'e into movies/cinema etc.
I work in stock exchanges and news apps like Thomson Reuters News Pro and Bloomberg are pretty good in that area.
Star Walk on the iphone is great but on the iphone is brilliant! (its an astronomy type app).
music wise you've got Soundhound and shazam
I could go on but thats a start... and these are all ipad or universal apps

thanks masseur!
You reminded me to try out the Apple Bluetooth keyboard that I bought in Japan with Pages!
I have Sky and will download Sky go and the other players!
Thanks again, I will check these out and have fun!
Oh! Do you use the stock browser? I will research about it and other choices.
I found a cool design Japanese bag with a draw string that is perfect for my iPad even with the Smart Cover in place!
