that is a big risk.
Now i only use free apps and trials, not bad as most use only a small advertisment banner.

I usually buy apps if i feel they're worth it e.g. Tapatalk, Smart Tools, or a really great productivity app and i only buy games once in a while.

Usually I'm bored with a game before the trial is over.
I don't mind paying €1 for an app but it has to be really really good

WP 7.8 out in Navifirm & Nokia Care Suite (the app they use on nokia care points)

I was able to install it last night, my impressions:

-very fast!
-new logos for xbox games, music and office
-ability to resize icons like WP8
-new startup screen
-ringtone maker app
-bluetooth send/receive

Any special skills needed, or can I do it too?
Is it really as easy as; download - flash - done ?

is a bit complicate, not very easy. luckily i had all the tools since i used to have a n8 to flash FW. I rather advise you to wait for the update through Zune.

I'll wait. I read how to do but there are a lot of things you have to rename and I have only an old laptop to use now.
It doesn't matter as the official release won't be long.

I don't have to wait long. Microsoft and Nokia are providing the update right now. It's a 4 step update so it may take a while.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow

What version did you flash ?

I flashed the UK country variant for the white Lumia 800 and never got the Bluetooth send/receive or the ringtone maker. I have now flashed back to my old FW version and am going to wait for the official release.

Regards

Craig

If i understood correct, the official release is available now for pre-launch lumias only.
The rest of us will get it in January or February.
@lemmy, you could try another countries FW, they all have English onboard.

@lemmy, you can download the Bluetooth file share app for 7.8 from the store.

I installed it on my 7.5 lumia 800 but that doesn't work .
