I noticed that too. Did you have cyan-cover on it?
Old FW gets me thru the day with moderate use. I'll try the new FW later this week again as someone noticed differences in the upgrades

With the upgrade as well as better battery life(not) they have improved wi fi reception and warmer colours in the camera. Apparently polycarbonate is supposed to improve network signal but compared to older Nokia phones the Lumia signal is quite poor at times

That's a Symbian vs WP thingy.. No modern OS comes close to Symbian phones in such optimizations such as signal quality, efficiency, memory handling, and so on.. But you know the other part of the story well I believe.. |

Signal reception is the best I ever had.

they don't, you get a new one but there is a crew that duplicates the scratches onto it

I disagree. Nokia N8 couldnt touch my X10 at keeping a good signal in weak areas, even my GS2 isnt as good as my X10, and memory handling was a disaster in Symbian, the RAM leaked like crazy and the only way to sort that out was a reboot every week or so. With Android id go months without having to reboot, and with the GS2 having a hot swappable sim slot i havent turned it off since updating it to 2.3.6 around a month ago, in Symbian that was hardly possible.

Never had any ram issues with Symbian Anna update. I always found Nokia performs differently on differenfly on different networks. In same area with same level coverage the N8 would differ. The x10 had a tendency to have its signal randomly vanish for a few seconds then come back again. Many new Xperia phones still do it too. Just jumps up and down

What I said about the signal is not my own opinion!
It's a known thing by everyone really..
Symbian's design and purpose was meant for telephony before anything else!
This is one of the major differences between it and the modern OSes..
And note that it's not only the antenna and the software that only affects the overall signal! There are few more factors as well..

I meant by memory handling is that at the basic OS level it requires way less RAM than all modern OSes to fully operate..
Memory leaks from the browser or some third-party apps are another topic.. |

Upon boot up the N8 always had about 131mb ram free. Almost as much as some Androids have left. I noticed that many modern OS seems to have alot worse signal and call clarity it takes a back seat to software and features

I was wondering how is the battery life with the new update? I read people claiming 3 times more battery life on gsmarena, which to me sounds like really impossible.
I too think symbian was very good as a telephone, had good battery life, performed well on even 300mhz.. Its only after the touch era that it started lagging behind. With belle, symbian or Nokia OS, is highly comparative to android. I would really want to have a belle device as a second phone..

False morel
End of the day what matters to me, the user, is if my phone can keep a signal even when its weak, and Symbian was no different to others at this, some Symbians like the E61 were great at keeping a good signal, others like the N8 werent so great.

My GS2 has around 600-700mb available at boot, but thats not the point, my point is that of that 131mb available at boot on the N8 at the end of the week (without rebooting) id have around 70mb after closing all open apps if i was lucky, with Android the system cleans itself, i could go to sleep with 200mb available RAM and wake up with 600-700mb free again, i never have to reboot.
