Right so after apple's disappointing announcement im on the market for a new phone, either the HTC Sensation, the XE or the Samsung Galaxy S 2.

Any advice from people who have had both?

Well the Sensation is a good looking and well built phone but I chose the SGS II coz` of screen quality (espesially outdoor performance), the much better camera and batterytime. I also prefer the lower weight of the Galaxy II

go for Galaxy s2.. Its a better phone..
Advantages of s2
1.Light weight and very thin
2. Excellent super amoled plus screen. Well under sunlight. Gorilla glass
3. Camera performs well
4. Good amont of Internal storage.
5. So far no significant issues reported from users.
Bad.
1. Battery cover is too flimsy
2. Camera lens protude outside so leads to scratches.
3. Though light weight, some what bigger handset.

Sensation
Good
1. 1.5 ghz dual.
2. Nice design and build
3. Powerful battery 1730 mA
Thats all i fell. I never used htc. So cannot comment on performance and issues. I hate htc camera and loud speaker performance.
Bad.
1. May have death grip issues
2. Heavy weigt on hands, falling leads more self destruction
3. 768mb ram against 1gb of s2
4. Just s-lcd and no gorilla glass.

I like galaxy s2 over XE.

Well Miss UK said she has had no death grip signal issue with her Sensation. I personally would go for the HTC myself. I love Samsung but don't like the GS2 it is too thin large and i hate the design plus i find it too lightweight. I have had neither device but i am going what i have seen and played with live working handsets in various stores. The camera quality on the Sensation is acutally decent and also does 1080p video but am unsure if you are fussed about camera or not. I would also choose the HTC interface over Samsung TW aswell. HTC Sense is more fun and has more depth to it too. Screen on HTC is qHD aswell super AMOLED may look good but has poor whites and too over saturated colours. I would also choose HTC for texting cos their keyboard on screen is the best imo really big keyboard and easy to use. There are so many things i could say about the HTC over the Samsung just cannot think right now as i just woke up

i have the galaxy s2 and would recommend that-no lag, excellent screen, good camera, loads of storage(101 apps and games only half full),lightweight.
the battery cover that people mention is super thin but when on the phone is rock solid with no flex.

Thanks for the replies, regarding the camera i am not that bothered. Using a BB 9700 at the moment so im sure both will win in this respect.

Also what is the death grip issues ?

death grip is just like the iphone 4 had at the start-losing reception and dropping calls when holding the phone due to anttena issues.

The death grip is more to do with WiFi connections than anything else. The Sensation has a very nice comfortable feel to it in the hand. The Keyboard is great. The SGS2 is overall, the better of both phones. Better screen, better performance, more internal storage (16/32gb versus 1gb on Sensation), better screen (super amoled).

If you want the better looking phone then it is the Sensation. If you want the better spec'ed phone with a better looking screen it is the GS2

In HTC's case, if you officially unlocked the bootloader, the warranty is voided. Samsung is open. This is another thing to consider if you want to mess around with dif'rent Roms.

Oh yes. Didn't know that the Samsung warranty remains in place. HTC has been really touchy-feely with their bootloader. Another one for the GS2

Htc is heavy in weight so u feel like holding a piece of metal in ur hand... So u cant keep in ur shirt pocket... Consider this before buying.
