Is there any advantage that Opera has over the stock Android browser? Is it worth it to go ahead and installing Opera on say the SGGS2 or the HTC Sensation?
I do like Opera but just don't know if it is worth it to install.

Only advantage i know of is that Opera handles HTML5 better than stock Android browser, accordjing to the HTML5Test site that is.
Personaly i prefer the stock Android browser, its UI is much easier to use and its not a major resource hog, which Opera is.
With the Android2.3 browser you dont realy have to use 3rd party browsers, its seriously fast and effecient even with Flash content.

If I'm going to non-stock browser I'll go to firefox... but I'm not at least this time...
the main reason is book mark sync. between desktop Firefox and Mobile Firefox... the only problem is that I don't use Firefox in desktop.. I use Chrome... and the only solution to sync. Chrome's book mark is to relay on 3rd party chrome extensions/add-ons and Android apps... and I didn't find one that good enough for me !!

I use Opera and find it far superior to the built in browser. Its intelligent text rendering makes complex web pages very easy to read. BBC news is a good example of what it can do. I would recommend trying it - you won't want to go back! |

Lately I am finding Opera very slow. And you should try Dolphin browser HD it's faster than the Android stock browser but based on it too.

Bolt Browser was also released yesterday for Android, and convenietly Opera released Opera Mobile11.5 and Opera Mini6.5 on the same day for Android, these browser wars in Android have brought with them some awesome browsers.
NetFront Life Browser has to be one of my favourites, innovative way of displaying bookmarks and loading pages, its very fast to, another favourite of mine is xScope, unvelievably fast browser even with JavaScript turned on it fly through the pages.

I always thought Opera browsers are amazing.
Now I must say - Android browser on 2.3.3 is amazing too and enough for almost anything.
Fast, efficient and handles Flash perfectly.
Opera Mobile 11.5 is great, it has worse Flash support but is sometimes faster though.
Opera Mini is especially great in slower connections, where nomal browsers are terribly slow.
And is the fastest.
Of the two, I would absolutely go for Opera Mini.
