Hey!

As many of you known, the P800 is on the verge of being released on the Orange network. Some sources suggest that the handsets should be with Orange as soon as this Friday. This is great for us UK users, who have been waiting for the past few months, for the smartphone to be released. I just have a few questions to ask about the P800 and its UK Release. These are as follows:

1) Does anyone have any other information on the release/price of the P800 in the UK? If so, can you please tell me as much as possible.

2) Approximately how many mp3s/minutes of videos can be put onto the supplied Memory Stick Duo?

3) Does the touch screen get a lot of finger prints on it when you play games such as Stunt Car Racing, and you have to put your finger on the screen to move the car?

4) How tough is the touch screen and does it get scratched easily?

Any other information on the SE P800 would be appreciated, and thank you for any other information in advance!

No idea but it think its going to be around £300

2) Approximately how many mp3s/minutes of videos can be put onto the supplied Memory Stick Duo?

the memory stick is supplied is 16, if you consider the mp3 @ 128bit , then the average size is 3.5MB, then 16/3.5 = 4 to 5 songs

The SE Eshop is selling them for £500 SIM free. Due on the 17th, second batch on the 24th. Check previous posts or the website for a phone number.

Fwd Cellular in Leicester and two other places (he wouldn't tell me the names) have paid more to get them early and on early this week they were supposed to have another delivery with uk ones.. unfortunately they're £620 sim free, but £299 with a vodaphone contract. Haven't dealt with them so don't know what they're like, im fairly early in the list with the eshop

With regard to the mp3s, remember that bigger, 64mb, 128mb and beyond are coming soon, and you can always have 2/3

I'd like to think that this time next week it'll be in the post

The above post is wrong, P800 will have 128mb max,
The included 16mb MS Due holds approx 15mins Video max or 30 mins MP3 (both these figures are based on fairly low quality),
As for release p800 is here when it`s here,
Screen in delicate & needs screen protectors to be used for a long life (like all touch screen PDA`s),
Price is £500 sim free & will drop by around £17 a month over the first 18 months.

Out of interest,

Is the Max mem size locked into the hardware or would it be possible to override it with future firmware upgrades?

I just remember that the sl45 needed a firmware upgrade to enable 128meg MMC's

Interesting news indeed. I pre-ordered this morning and was told that the handsets should be in on the 24th, and would ship within a couple of days - From that, I assumed that I'm in the second batch. Emma (I think) said it would definately be with me by the first week of march, at the latest.

Now, you've got me hoping that I made the first batch!

She did say nothing had been confirmed.

But I think that's to cover their arses.

5 days + shipping to go.
