Hi there,
I’ve just bought a car with a SE car kit in it. I’d like to buy a phone to fit the car (odd, I know, but cheaper than getting the whole thing changed maybe). Does anyone know what the best or most recent SE phone that would fit this adaptor would be please?

assuming the car kit is not bluetooth compatible, you'd best determine the exact model of the kit to be sure that suggested phones are suitable

That holder is for a K750i. Either K750i or W800i will fit (maybe a W810i will fit too).

thanks indeed. Used to lust over the 750i so it takes me back a bit! 880i doesn't fit, got one already and it has the charge port on the side.

Oh dear.
I got a k750i from ebay and it doesn't fit. It's too wide and it doesn't have the power connector at the top (see the back of the cradle).
Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.

The connector towards the top is for an external aerial. The K750i does have the matching connector but you need to remove the cover from it on the rear of the phone.
The only other holder it could be is the HCH-68 which fits the K510i:
