A few weeks ago I purchased a black C905a second-hand from a guy who had apparently imported it from Canada. It was Rogers customized. I had to send it to SE repair (PTS) as the fast-port was so loose it could not maintain a connection.

PTS sent me back a replacement unit, but it was still customized with Rogers crap. I used Davinci to flash it to the latest firmware (R1FA035, I believe) and de-brand it with a GENERIC fs. I thought I was choosing the correct flash for my phone as I had selected "GENERIC" "AMERICA." But, after the initial reboot, the default language became Spanish.

I used an upgrade_customize.xml based on codeclaw's DB3210 file extractor to pull out the customization pack to discover that the customize.xml indicated a "Generic LAM." That's Latin America, to my dismay.

The GPS will not work. There are a couple of satellites which occasionally appear and twinkle out. My guess is that the GPS is programmed with satellites appropriate for Latin America, and the two sats it keeps seeing are the two outer-most for that region.

Is there a GPS config or db/dbf file I can replace to get it to look for the proper satelites? Or, is there a better firmware/fs combination I can use in the USA? I have downloaded fw/fs from TopSony before and used A2Uploader before so I am familiar with the process, I am just leery of re-flashing over-and-over until I find the right one. Also, if someone can tell me a better set to flash from Davinci, I certainly don't mind paying the $15 to do it again and properly.

Thanks.

I confirmed with Chris of Davinci that the Generic LAM covers North America, as well, as there was never a generic release for Canada or the USA. The problem would appear to be with the GPS receiver in the phone so I have sent it off to SE for repair.
