Ugly new Sony Ericsson phones... |

Having recently upgraded my Nokia 8850 to a T68i (and I'm extremely pleased with it), I've been researching into new Sony Ericsson phones, namely the aesthetics of them.
Now, here's my gripe: if you thought the T300 was ugly enough, take a look at the T310 and T610 models.
What the f**k happened? The T68i is such a beautiful phone, yet the new SE models look just like ancient Siemens bricks. Especially the T310... it looks exactly like the old budget Siemens phone, the one prior to the C25.
Why has Sony Ericsson reverted to the old-skool Siemens brick-like angular style of design? I know that now, regardless of features or price, I will not be buying a next-gen SE phone unless they release one that doesn't look just like a shrunken square 5-year-old Siemens brick. |

I actually like the old Siemens..actually I like all Siemens phones. Adding to their quirky design they also have the best quality products.
However, I also agree that SE needs to work on their designs. But the products such as the P800 and the T100 makes the future better for SE.

Too much Sony influence IMO. I guess the only competitor to the T68i now is the Siemens S55, SE have really lost it. |

Yeah, the recent Siemens designs are excellent (especially the gorgeous SL55 tiny 7650-style slide phone), but can you honestly say the very old black-and-green rectangular slabs could be described as anything other than design monstrosities?
They shared more in terms of size, weight and shape with a bloody Technics 1210 deck than any phone...
@richardadc: I think that when Sony and Ericsson merged, they replaced their designers with lobotomised Khazakstanian llamas, as all pre-merge Sony products looked very nice in an edgy, techno way, and most Ericsson phones were good-looking too.
Why oh why did Sony and Ericsson have to merge? I liked both manufacturers' individual product lines, and I'm sure things would have turned out better had the merge not happened. Well, discounting the financial side of things...

Ericsson needed Sony and Sony needed Ericsson. Even though the merger is not doing the best they would have been way worse if they didn't merge. Ericsson needed Sony to attract younger people and Sony needed Ericsson's infrastructure.

Lets just wait for Cebit to see what SE is going to announce. I can smell something really good coming. |

Sure the T68i sucessor will be something exciting and good looking ! It should be the true phone that designed by Sony Ericsson! Many sony ericsson phones aren't really designed by sony ericsson, like T100, T200 being designed by a Taiwanese company I believe. Sure the phones line up for SE in 2003 would be very exciting ! Only a month to go when we can see the new phones from SE in Cebit !!

I think it should look like, more or less, the present t68i. After all it is the next t68i

Once you have had a nokia 6100 you will never touch a se t68i again. Se will never feature such a bright screen with vivid color mms speaker phone poly sounds and java. Once you hold it in your hand you will never look at another SE again.

Don't compare the 6100 with the T68i. The 6100 was just released. When T68i was released, Nokia didn't know what color screen is. Do you forget that T68 was the first phone ever having a color screen?
Ok 6100 has a better screen because it is a newer model. Just wait for a month to see the successor of the T68 and then come back and tell us about SE phones. |
