Can someone help me please?? I have a Windows 7 Home Premium pc but I find sometimes it is fairly slow in start up. Where can I find decent free software for speeding up my boot up & also clearing alot of useless files hanging around in my pc that I cannot see?? Thanks in advance

I have over the years found http://onecare.live.com/site/en-GB/default.htm?mkt=en-GB to be very useful in clearing out rubish and improving speed. Whats more its free! |

@tranced am not sure. I thought about this as my brothers pc has same specs as mine yet his is faster at boot up. I know you can do msconfig but I am unsure what to untick

A print screen with the msconfig's startup tab would be fine for us. Show it.

Run "msconfig" & hit the "Startup" tab and now disable all the unnecassary softwares which you don't need running right when you log on to the windows. (You can run them manually when you need.)
And remember to uncheck "Start with windows" option that you see when installing different softwares e.g. messengers, virtual tools, etc
Edit
Use the snipping tool to take screenshots of individual windows

The first thing I would recomend is to get rid of AVG. On my PC I changed from AVG to MS Security Essentials (its had good reviews) and my boot time halved.

You should try the ccleaner. It is really a good soft and it is free.
