Hi Everyone
For your information the P800 will be released exclusively on Orange this Friday (14th Feb)
From Monday next week it will be available to Orange dealers so shops will take longer to receive it. It will be available within a month SIM Free, probably before the end of February.
Whilst I my sources have told me this is a definite release date, it may change.
Daniel

Where are you sources? I rung up Orange about 1 hour ago and they only had a release of February. How sure are you of this release? I really do hope its this Friday though!
Thanks anyway! |

Although O UK are still being cagey this looks like the real deal.
Might wait for online dealers to get it tho as it is always cheaper.

For that much I think I may go to 3. They are having a demo of their phones in Oxford street on Saturday, so I'm going to see what the 3 phones are like. If they live up to the hype, I think I'll get a couple (one for me and one for the gf, video phones sure could make fone sex more interesting...) |

Does that mean orange will have the handsets ready for dispatch on the friday? If so that means we will have it on saturday?

Well, if this is true, I will be very interested to find out if they are using a special software version. This is because the HK P800 I purchased has no line 2 support in the software. Additionally, it doesn't have complete support for the voicemail symbol. Each time the symbol is activated or de-activated you additionally get a text message saying "voicemail waiting". I wouldn't mind so much if it only happened when you got a new message, but the fact you get it when you delete all your voicemails too, is a pain. This is software R1B |

@Jon stat, thats your network, otherwise all Rb1 would be like it & they are not. |

Patchy is right, this is a feature of Orange. Use you P800 on Voda or O2 and you won't have this problem. If you want the voicemail symbol to consistently appear you'll need a specific Orange version of the phone. This is one of the reasons why Orange have been so slow with handsets in the past. They get a specially configured version of each handset. |

Actually, that still isn't quite true. The use of the voicemail spool symbol is used by more networks than just Orange. Additionally the "vanilla" T28, T68, T68i, T39 all worked in regards of ALS and voicemail symbols without any modifications. The only modification Orange had to make with these phones, was to display the correct message when a "sim update" was sent. A vanilla Nokia 7650 also works in terms of ALS (although this had bugs in first software release) and voicemail spool symbols. |

@Celios, i didn`t say it was an Orange thing, as i use RB1 with an orange sim & i don`t get the viocemail sms problem, my spool shows as it did with the t68i, & i get no unwanted sms, thats just my experience. i just wanted to point out that this sms thing happens because some networks send an sms notification for a vioce message, i`ve heard of it with t68i in certain circumstances.
Also apart from a few extra pictures, an Orange logo in start up & a few Orange network services in the menus, the Orange P800`s wont be much different. unless they are orange ....yuk

Someone on the Orange list has stated that the Orange Build sorts out the voicemail issue.
ALS support is not yet confirmed.
Oh and someone else has said that the release date has slipped to the 24th.
