Judging how long it took for 2.1 no. I think SE should concentrate on some new decent phones with Gingerbread at least.

All Current Xperia is capable of 2.2 update, and we need that update, its all up to SE if they will implement this Update to our Xperia Phones.
I think they learned a lot from X10i, that's why X10i, x10 mini's and x8 all been updated at the same time, although too bad for x10i owner's took them 1 year to update unlike x10 mini's and x8.
if they would give us 2.2 update within 2nd quarter then we are blessed
and i don't think they will update us with 2.3, for all i know 2.3/2.4 and above is already reserved to the next line up of Xperia Family
but who knows we we might get a taste of that too

SE started working on 2.3 directly after 2.1. So if we're going to see a new android version for the xperia family,it'll be 2.3.

Got over 70apps in my X10, 11widgets across 3 of my homescreens and im using ADW Launcher, and my X10 is realy snappy, only slows down in Mediascape, otherwise excellent performance.
I hope we get 2.3 but a part of me thinks we will be left on 2.1 ,im not that bothered though, the X10 has served me so well, only had one reboot since i go it last year in July, i hardly ever shut it down, maybe twice a month at most i'll shut it down or more if im switching sims but generaly twice, it's been such a trooper.

Although a FroYo or Gingerbread update would help the tiny CPUs on the Mini and Mini Pro... the speed increase and efficiency on FroYo is amazing!!!! Older Android phones perform like newer ones!

I have more than 50 apps installed.
I have 11 widgets running on 5 homescreen, using launcher pro.
I have RSS feed auto sync, push mail, bluetooth always ON, GPS always ON, wifi always ON, data network always ON, vlingo SafeReader enabled.
I seldom use Mediascape but I use Timescape a lot.
The only thing that I find slow is the camera.
I'm going to add another two homescreen due to some additional widgets.
Not only the phone is fast and snappy, the battery life is great. almost two days with moderate to heavy use. |
