Tried another computer?
You can try scandisk to fix it.

How come it won't run? Is yours broken?
Try to restart the computer with the usb plugged in. It might prompt to run the scandisk when starting up windows.

If it is asking you to format, it is a corrupt file system, very unlikely there's anything I can do.
ALWAYS KEEP A BACKUP. I can't stress that enough

OK tranced, I will give that a go..
Hi lukechris, not my drive!! My friends, but fortunately, I told her to make back ups and to store data elsewhere, so she has only lost a few files,
If I format it, what's to say the problem will not return? We both bought one of these a few months back,
Oh! I do have a MacBook Pro to try it on..

Try it in a Linux live CD, and see what gParted says
That's all I can suggest

thanks, but don't have access to that...
Might ask my friend to find the receipt, and then see if the PC-World can run any data restoring software..

Hi tranced,
I have a Windows XP desktop PC and a MacBook Pro !
But neither would recover the errors on that drive.

Hi number1,
thanks. I restored the boot sector and can now see the directories.
Some directories have all files intact,
Some have some of the files intact, and some still trashed,
and some directories still have all files trashed.
I am trying another program, Pandora and will try this one later,
