So SE will be wiped out in 2011 because they 'might not' invest in dual core in Q211?

I'll remember this post.

What part in Arc is below par with the competition?

Feel free to compare it to released handsets and then post your comparison here or forever stfu.

I still fail to see where these claims are coming from? First of all SE has only showcased the ARC. Everything else is Leaks and not official and please do show me where competitors are showing better hard and software?

Yes there will be dual core phones announced at MWC and probably some with Gingerbread, from gsmarena:LG touts the LG Optimus 2X as the world’s first dual-core smartphone and the Tegra 2 did impress us with its performance. But we have our doubts that Android 2.2 Froyo is using the two cores (we’re still running tests).

Phonearena on the LG: "We will make a segway here to explain what are the current and future bragging rights of having a dual-core phone. For now the most useful advantage is the ability to record and play Full HD 1080p video. More detailed videos is a nice thing to have, but in reality the difference with HD 720p video is not that huge, if you are not watching it on a Full HD-capable display.

Moreover, there are single-core phones, which also claim the ability to record 1080p video, like the upcoming Samsung Infuse for AT&T, simply because the 1.2GHz Hummingbird chipset in it is powerful enough to allow Full HD. The main advantages are coming when there is software written specifically for dual-core, but for now you are only getting the bragging rights."

So they are announcing it with Froyo, whereas the Arc is more than capable of delivering one of the best android performances with Gingerbread (all previews show a flawless lagfree experience in Proto stage)!!! Furthermore it is coming with probably the best Android Camera for stills and a pretty impressive screen. And If SE manages to get it out by the end of March (6 weeks after MWC) I am sure it will be one of the best solutions out there...

Maybe SE is working on getting out there first Dual Core with Honeycomb before Christmas (I wish) which I think would be a very smart move (a platform which actually utilizes dual core!). Until then I am sure I will be more than happy with the Hard and software (and best design) of the ARC

Apologies for the long post

I freely admit I'm a fanboy of SE and I love the Xperia arc, I'm already figuring how I'm going to sell X10 (and a kidney) to get my hands on one, but, I'm not blind to the fact that arc does have shortcomings. I think the lack of a frony facing cam will be a big issue to as many as 1/3 of arc users within 6 months, also have you thought about after 2.3? I'm not talking about the tablet interface of honeycomb but a better phone OS. I can't imagine SE being the fastest to release the OS, nor even guaranteeing support for it and I'm sure that will perform better with a dual-core processor.

This time last year X10 was seen as on par (pretty much) with the best devices out there (namely: Desire, Nexus et al) but just weeks later 2.2 was announced and the lack of multi-touch came to light and all of a sudden X10 was a 'failure' (which I don't really agree with but I'll go with it for this argument). I'm not saying arc will have such a catastrophe as the multi-touch debacle of 2010 but the front facing cam and the dual-core processor ARE limitations. Maybe not for this month of even next month but in 6 months, probably, in a year, definitely. Other handsets are going to be out by the end of the quarter with dual-core and front facing cams (among other things such as NFC chips).

So could the argument about arc being behind competitors or not stop please. In some ways it is but in some ways it's a fantastic phone in it's own right.

...oh and this thread is for rumours! Take it elsewhere!
I have a dig bick

Have you heard of a phone called Optimus 3D ?
It has a glass less 3D 4.3 inch screen (better than ARC), Multi Channel RAM ( a first), Dual Core SoC, a 3D camera with 3D video recording.

Now tell me, does the Arc stand up to this phone ? I took the example of Optimus 3D as its the most advanced Android right now, come MWC there will be more ( I am talking about the Galaxy S successor) which will again push the edge.

Where will that leave the Arc come April ?

I understand that this is a fan forum but sometimes we need to accept the bitter truth than ignore it.

^ Are you not the same Avmaxfan who claimed to have inside info. You did get people's hopes up with promises of dual-core proccies and 720p displays. So from a liar, you're now just a troll...just saying.

whats all this rubbish about 3D?

I mean, ive watched a few movies at the cinemas in 3d, most were not even worth the more expensive ticket.

Personally, I fail to see any benefit in 3D and I dont see it taking off too much... But I may be wrong.

The lg optimus offering 3d is hardly an advantage! Like I said, 3d is nothing special imho

i agree regarding this 3D bull$#!*. It's all just a marketing ploy. I prefer something like the android 3D gallery. They should design a 3D UI that's accelerometer-based. I want something like those motion-sensing concept UIs from the Astonishing Tribe.

I would like a high-end non-camera android phone ^^ You will be surprised how many people will buy it as more companies are restricting camera into their premises.

I want to see a phone with top hardware and a superfast phone with not even one lag anywhere. Dont care about camera or anything else. I want a lag free phone both in terms of software and games.
