I just read on engadget that the white version wont be avaliable until spring of next year, and by that time the successor to the iphone 4 will have almost been released

But despite the actual release date, the news of the next iPhone will dull the arrival of the white version.
If people are going to spend that amount of money on a phone they would want it to be the latest technology available. I find it hard to imagine a significant amount of potential customers would delay getting one for almost a year and then eventually get one just at the time when the news of the latest iPhone is coming out...
