Hi all,
I have been looking recently for a tablet to use for internet browsing etc and found this one today in Maplins
I really liked it and the obvious choice for a good tablet was a iPad but the price tag is the thing putting me off. I like Android and get on with it but just wondered if anyone has used one of these or can suggest a better one?
Regards

whats holding me back from the Android tablets is that I understand the O/S does not support tablet size screens, so apps in the market don't work (yet).
now that we have the Galaxy tablet coming soon, and others, I expect that to change and I could well be tempted to change my iPad for one of these as the Galaxy tab looks superb.

Any other suggestions?
I dont suppose it really has to be Android its just I get on with it. All I really need is a decent screen for browsing the internet because I like to use it while in bed etc or on car journeys for movies.
Thats interesting about the Market apps not working though I didnt know that!

Hey James, I'm a very firm supporter of Android, but honestly, the iPad holds the current "fun surfing the net while in bed" experience.
It has a lot of limitations but really is one of the easiest devices to use.
Currently, I wouldn't recommend ANY Android tablet until Google says they've optimized it for tablet use. Of course it can be done, but I'm not really fond of recommending "beta stage" tech.
Don't even bother with the iPad copies running Android, they are completely frustrating and horrible.

As long as Google themselves keep seeing that they don't yet have an Android OS that's good enough for a tablet, it really would feel stupid to buy one I think.
Am not doing the iPad thing though. I want to be able to use all my favourite apps from my phone on my tablet and I just couldn't be bothered having two sets of apps across my favourite gadgets.
I will get an Android tab when one good enough hits the market, for sure.

I played with the Samsung Galaxy Tab yesterday and will buy one as soon as the price has dropped a litte bit more - currently the price in Sweden is 1000 USD...

I played with the Galaxy tab today as a colleague bought one from CPW yesterday.
It was pretty much as I expected, a Desire in larger form, probably as most people expected the iPad is an iPhone in larger form.
Its definintly a good bit of kit but even its owner was dissolutioned by the lack of apps that are compatible, and these days that is a major factor.
He was even impressed that he only lost 20% battery during his hour into work! My iPad still shows 95% when I arrive after a similar time
I've said before and I repeat here... I expect to move to Android tab in the next year or 2, but right now its just too early until the app support is there. With iPad intro they at least supported iPhone apps at double res, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Android (or am I wrong?)

Wow... sorry but THAT is overpriced.
You can buy an iPad and a 4" Android device for that price and have way more usability.
I really would hold out on the Android tablets for now... the whole pissing contest iPad-killer mentality is having them dish out half baked products.
At this point, I wish someone would actually make a 7-9" tablet running ELSE instead... THAT I'd buy right now and ditch my iPad.
