Yet again I found honesty to be a good friend.
I was unlucky enough to drop my Vivaz the toilet. Wather + mobile phone = bad...
So, I called up my incuranse company and explained the situation hoping for nothing really knowing they don't cover wather damage.
Clumsy accident is what it was so I was not going to make up a story about the phone being nicked by alians or anything like that.
"So, what was the reason for you dropping the phone in the loo?" they asked.
"Bad luck," I replied. "I cut my finger and had to have it stiched up a few days prior to the event and grabbed the phone with the wrong hand."
"OK, then we'll cover it" they said. "We can send you a new Vivaz or you can choose an other phone in the same price range."
Not having been too happy with my Vivaz I decided to go for another phone.
I'm now the happy owner of a W995 and are glad I've got buttons to press on my phone and not just a touch screen.

You are honest about what had happen but that i am suprise by the insurance company man to act like that. As every insurance man, bank officer will think in favour of the company/bank for not to pay and will find reasons for that. But that man is really a good man. You are lucky that the person you met, is honest also.
In every case, we should try to be honest hoping for the other person also to be honest.

Good to see you around, mister
You were very lucky this time. Didn't you have a Vivaz Pro as an option?

Thanks Tranced.
Yes, but I did't fancy it. Simple as that.
I'm a fan of buttons to press you see.

@tranquil
That's nice to hear. Normally you do have to make up some sort of tall tale in order to increase your chances of getting a pay out.
So sometimes honesty really is the best policy.
Sorry, I'll get my coat.

I'm glad your honesty paid off
The only experience I had of phone insurance is paying £5 per month for it for 2 years to cover my W580i, and then cancelling it the day before it was lost. After that, I'm tempted not be honest with the next insurance I have...
