Warranty Advice Please? |

Hi,
I have just bought a T68 upgraded to a T68i off of a friend.
He got the phone last October 2002 on contract and decided he didn't like it too much so he went out and bought another phone and thus sold the phone to me.
I am wanting to get the joystick changed or at least fixed as every so often it sticks and won't move down and needs a lot of convincing to move, it only does this occasionally, but I had a go on a friends T68i and the joystick is responsive and doesn't move as freely as mine.
What I want to know is, would my phone still be under warranty? My friend says he is unsure but he thinks he had a years warranty when he bought it.
I'm wanting to get the firmware upgraded and hopefully get the joystick fixed/replaced on this warranty without having to pay a fortune so can anyone advise me what I need off him?
Do i just need the receipt or something else? Was the warranty voided when I had it? Or can I just get him to take it in and get it fixed?
Please help as he is unsure and I really do want to get this fixed without having to pay a fortune.
Thanks for any help |

Had a similar problem to you recently. I also bought a T68 from a friend and it developed a problem with the ear piece. I contacted SE Customer Care Centre (08705 237 237).
Person on the other end was very helpful. I explained the situation and she asked me to quote the manufacture date on the back on the phone. She then confirmed that the phone was in warranty, took some details and told me how to send it off for a diagnosic check. I double checked that I did not need proof of purchase and she said that as long as the phone was in warranty and that there were no signs of user damage, there would not be a problem.
Should be receiving my phone back any day now.
Hope this helps. |
