this afternoon i watched a movie and put my phone in a standby state.. after a 1 and half hour movie i checked my phone if there's a text or missed call( cause it's in silent mode) and i noticed that my phone turned off..
when i am about to start watching i checked my battery status and it's 40%.. when i about to turn on my phone i noticed that the back part where the battery is placed is hot, and when it's on i noticed that my battery is dropped from 10%.. what should be the problem about this?

Non smartphones get virus. Your phone was hot perhaps the 3g was on.

oh i c.. i noticed that earlier before i watch a film.. my 3g indicator in the phone goes on and off..
is this the problem? and why not drain all my battery? instead it turned off and have a remaining 10% of battery life..
is this some kind of a power saver? and why is my phones back part is hot?

i am sorry for so many question.. it's just that i am confused.. thx guys..

I'm sure that's the cause of the drained battery. The 3g consumes more battery. Also that's the cause of the heat in the back of your phone.

I can tell you now its not the 3g antenna and its not a virus. What it actually is is a short in the power circuit of the phone or a short in the battery. Those are the causes for a rapid drain in battery. I've had 4 Sony Ericssons do this on me. Each one sent back to an SE repair centre and all they did was reflash the firmware.
After opening the phones I found the main pcb had a fault which needed soldiering and some were found to have faulty batteries.
Each phone had the same signs where it would suddenly get hot and rapidly discharge the battery down to 10 percent and turn off. If you take the battery cover off you will notice the battery is sometimes too hot to touch. I've even bought replacement batteries direct from SE eshop and Its happened in those as well.

On some phones if using 3G for a long time it can run hot. I had some Nokia & Samsung's do that but the battery thing is not right I had this happen on an X10 Mini 3 times
Phone?? What phone??

They can run hot when 3g is active and browsing or video calling but not during standby and certainly doesn't get hot and completely drain your battery within seconds.

my elm is in gsm+3g mode all the time and i have not experienced that thing. The battery's life is around 2.5 days (includes standby, surfing the net on wifi, playing java games and texting). I bought my elm (my first SE) 1 month ago. Maybe i'll experience that someday (i hope not).

There are only a couple of mobile viruses in the wild and generally they don't cause your phone to turn off, although they will keep sending random images and or copies of themselves to other phones via bluetooth which can drain the battery.

These viruses are only able to attack s60 devices, and as far as I know modern s60 versions are no longer susceptible to those old viruses. Infact they have probably died out due to lack of enough infectable handsets to propogate via.

Also, these viruses rely on the end user having bluetooth in discoverable mode, to also click "install" when they receive the virus over bluetooth, before infection is possible.

I once received a copy of the cabir virus over bluetooth, I obviously refused to install it.

A new Android virus has also been discovered in Russia, but only infects russian handsets: http://www.theoldergamers.com[....]ends-costly-text-messages.html
Also this link lists the old viruses that are mostly defunct now - cabir, commwarrior (s60) and redbrowser (j2me from memory) http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-mobile-phone-virus.htm All of which relied on bluetooth

The Elm is not a smartphone, so it's less susceptible to viruses.
Nokia 6070 (2006-2009), K550 (second hand 2009-2010), Hazel (J20i) (2010-2011), Samsung Galaxy S II (2011-2012), Samsung Galaxy S III (2012-2014), Sony Xperia Z3 (2014-)

Most mobile viruses today rely on user interaction - so to that extent even j2me phones can be susceptible to viruses. Redbrowser is a j2me (java) virus and would infect ELM if the end user was silly enough to accept the prompts.

Whats this?
It is folder made in my K850i FS system last few days back. I had flashed my K850i last sunday and then this appeared. I had formatted my memory card as well and performed virus check as well. I have reflashed it again yesterday. Now its not there. But i want to know what was that. I couldnot delete that folder and file via a2up and far method.

About my use, i am using patches and elf on my K850i. Plus my bluetooth is always on because i use DS980 bluetooth stereo device. Though my bluetooth is always on safe mode means other cant connect when DS980 is connected.

Can anybody explain what was that?
