Hi everyone!

I am trying to set up my W900i to receive GMail

I use the settings -

Account name - W900i
email address - my_email@gmail.com
Connect using - o2 Prepay GPRS
Connection Type IMAP4

Incoming Server: imap.gmail.com

Username - my_email@gmail.com and have also tried my_email as the user name
password - ******** and have triple checked it

Download - Headers and Text
Check Interval - 5 minutes

Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com

Username - my_email@gmail.com and have also tried my_email
password - ******** and have triple checked it

Your name - ofiaich
Signature - left it blank

Copy outgoing - sent to my main address

Encryption - Incoming server and outgoing server -SSL

Incoming Port - 993
Outgoing Port - 587 BUT I also read that 465 can be used for Outgoing and tried it.

When I send a test message, I get the error, ILS/SSL server certificate not authorised by known authority. Contact your email provider

Any ideas to solve this would be much appreciated.

The only difference with mine are:
- download > to limit.
- limit > 10kb.
- smtp > as imap.
- port > 993 & 465 (Aino)
Good luck

I think it is in the imap vs smtp where you lock up. or start again here:

Your settings seem to be correct, the problem is that the certificate that Google Mail is using isn't being accepted by your phone. Does it give you an option to continue anyway?

@ofiaich: Alright, here's what you want to do. First you want to connect your phone to the computer in Phone Mode. Next, download the Equifax CA from here. Next, drag the file onto the Sony Ericsson File Manager icon on your desktop. Your phone should then ask you if you want to install a new certificate, push Yes. Try sending a email again and it should work

@ofiaich, I don't know if this will help you... but I had a similar incident setting up my mom's Elm (it used to receive Gmail then it suddenly stopped giving server errors)

Go to this link and enter your login info.

It MIGHT help.

Could not get the S-E Desktop Manager to see my W900i using cable or Bluetooth. That's why I asked

Can I install the certificate to the memory card, and go from there?

I will re-install the S-E Desktop Manager and try again.

Hi! Yes, good whiskey that!

I successfully install the W900i software and am currently transferring music to the phone using Disc2Phone.

I also synched contacts and calendar successfully.

However when I drag Equifax Secure Certificate Authority.crt onto the Sony Ericsson File Manager icon on my desktop, I get the error message
" unable to load the configuration. "

Can I copy the certificate to the W900i's memory to make things work?

Hi!

I read this thread and this one and also downloaded

Equifax Secure Certificate Authority.crt
Equifax_Secure_Certificate_Authority.cer
getrootcert.cer
thawte_Premium_Server_CA.cer
thawte_Server_CA.cer
ThawtePremiumServerCA.cer
ThawteServerCA.cer

and bluetoothed them, to my W900i

But still no success.

I get a wrong mailbox or password error.

I have also tried use googlemail.com instead of gmail.com

Any ideas?

I will post this to the A Guide to get Gmail working on k800i (Send/Rec) so perhaps any ideas could be posted there!
