Hi guys,

I don't have the P800... yet... and I don't know if I'll waste my money on it, just because it doesn't have SMS delivery reports (yet). Do you know if there's going to be some Firmware update with this feature included? I know there are codes for deliveries (for me e.g. it is *n# for my network, Oskar, Czech Republic), but I think, a phone in this category and price(!!!) should have had this feature implemented originally!!! This is mad! I really want that phone, of course I'll buy it only under the condition it will have SMS delivery...

Thx,

Stuffman

You probably don't need this phone then if you only limit yourself to SMS delivery reports.

Now sorry for being rude, but you're talking BULLSHIT!!!
I need the phone for all it's features (GPRS, Bluetooth, organizer, blablabla) and I USE every phone I have till the max.! Am not one of those that buy a prepaid SIM and a fancy phone and act like James Bond... no way... am serious about this... I love the company and it's models (well, at least the good looking ones, lol), but a phone for 700-900 Euros with NO SMS delivery reports is not the right stuff I think...
It's only a question of software... I wrote to the SE HelpDesk, and am awaiting their reply about it... hope they'll manage it out and make this tiny-lill' mistake get fixed...

So is there ANYONE able to tell me wether there's a hope for having SMS delivery reports in future releases of SE P800 firmware or not?

Thx,

Hey stuffman,

I'm with you on the delivery report thing.

I was on O2 in the UK which was really unreliable and to make it worse, the network doesn't support delivery receipts.

I spent most of my time wondering why people didn't get back to me about struff and then finally found out that they didn't get the SMS in the first place. A delivery receipt would have sorted all that out.

I would assume that something so standard will be added in future firmware updates ...

Well guys, my old t68 had no reports with an Orange sim in it but halfway through my ownership Orange sent a sim update & from then on i got reports, but if your desperate for p800 reports then just make a sms template with your network sms report code at the begining & use it for all your sms.
P800 does have MMS reports you know, (for those of you that "USE ALL THE FEATURES")

just get the damn phone.......im sure that the SMS notification confirmation will become available eventually. The option is available for MMS's and I dont see why SE wouldnt add it to SMS's.

2 craigc: Hey dude, thx for being "on the same boat" with me
I am really pissed off by this shit... I mean, oki, it's a cool
phone with almost everything, but how the f**k can they
release such an expensive phone without supporting SMS
delivery reports?!?! Even the most cheap models (T100,
R600, T29, and so) DO support them, so why this highclass
manager phone thing DOES NOT?

2 pachy: yes yes, we know, MMS deliveries are supported. But you
CAN'T force me to send MMS when the 80% of dudez in my
Phonebook have NO MMS phone or shit??!!?!!
And anyways, if the MMS delivery is supported, don't you
think it's weird (or a shame) for not supporting the more
simple SMS messages' deliveries???As I wrote it in my first
or second post, when buying a phone of this class and
PRICE, I do expect all the major features from it, and this
includes the SMS deliveries, too. I know I could create a
template for writing SMS with delivery codes, but WHY
would I do it? Why would I have to pay for this phone some
700-900 Euros and then care about writing SMS with
delivery codes? I thought people spending their money for
such a phone should be happy and having everything that a
phone in this class supports, WORKING. And one more issue
regarding the templates... okay, let's say I would write
templates and so... but what if someone sends a message
to me, and I want to reply directly? I don't think
it's "comfortable" to start the SMS e.g. with *n# (as for me,
this is my delivery code here, in the Czech Republic for
Oskar), and then just writing the text... This is just stupid, I
really want this phone, but unless it will be missing this
feature (delivery) in next firmwares, too, I am not going to
buy it...

2 WoeDee: That's what I don't understand: WHY? Why the f**k there
is MMS delivery report, and no SMS delivery???
When I think of my ex-T68i, it had such a beautiful system
of deliveries... why can't they put it in here? Symbian does
support it, I had Psion 5mx and shit, and the soft for SMS
sending via a mobile supported all this... why???
I know, Symbian is a bit different from EPOC32, but in
basics it's the same... so???

2 all of ya: I work for a mobile operator, so I have all the features yoy
are "forced" to pay for, for free... yes... one of the
advantages working under an operator
I just had to quit "misusing" the GPRS, because I had bills
with numbers like 340MB, 500MB, and last time I had 680MB
downloaded, then my company's Fraud called me to stop it
(one more thing, I do receive bills, but my company pays it,
and of course, if someone (like me ) seems to be using
the stuff more than often, it stinks... since they called me, I am using it only in Emergency cases

Hope SE will release some new FW with SMS delivery reports... hope for us all wanting to buy this device, and also for us all having it already bought and been disappointed somehow...

Is it so hard for you to type *# at the beginning of your SMS's until SE release a firmware that implements this?

Seem to me that you're getting *way* too worked up over 2 extra key presses.

Please read the thread carefully, then drop your shit

I wrote at least 3 times, that I would like to know wether it's GONNA be implemented in new fw or not. I don't have the phone, yet, and I am not buying it until it does not support this. It's important to me, and to others, too. Especially when you pay the price of 3 "normal" mobiles, like T68i (at least the price here in the Czech Republic), which do support deliveries, by the way....

Of course it's not hard to write the delivery code, but it's had to be ilmpemented as a defualt option (I mean the delivery report) already, don't ypu think?

Thx

Well my t68 never had it on my network & the network added it later.
SE must have good reason for putting it on MMS & not SMS, it`s an issue you could write to SE about....i hope they write back to say they don`t give a F.U.C.K just to wind you up.

2 lazarini: hahaha, funnyboy sure youmight think this phone is not for me... I say it MIGHT be for me... all I wanted to know was if those nice delivery reports will be added or not?! I didn't say I don't like the phone, I like it, maybe too much, but this is a detail I need in a phone. Got it?

2 pachy: well, if your network didn't support SMS deliveris, then I am really sorry for you. That is a primitive issue that even operators in countries with very bad financial situation are supporting. I have never heard of an operator around here (Slovakia, Czech, Hungary, Russia, Ukrainia, Germany, Austria, Polland) that would not support SMS deliveries. Maybe that's why it's strange for you guys... since we have GSM, we have all the stuff it supports given to people...

@Stuffman you have missread my post, Orange UK always supported SMS reorts, they have done for years.
But for some reason t68 reports menu was missing with an Orange sim (the same sim had reports when put in other phones) so Orange had to send a sim update to allow reports on the t68.
SO i`m trying to explain to you again that repoars can be applied by your network if they want to, so ask your network.
In other words i`m saying that if a large network like Orange UK had issues with reports only on the t68 then perhaps SE are using a weird sms report software or maybe they have now decided to leave it up to the networks. as SMS days are now numbered in favour of MMS.
