I am not posting this because of any rumors but it is purely out of speculation (which is partly out of the acceptance that SE has given up on the Satio =/).

Anyways I think SE has been keeping quiet is because they've accepted long ago that the Symbian OS was a bad idea and have been hard at work to make the next update the most shocking one yet. We are going to get Xperia treatment via Android 2.2 Froyo and everybody will be happy.

End of story.

Sony Ericsson, if you are watching, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO.

Well, I hope not! I like Symbian and do NOT want Android (for several reasons e.g. privacy or Software I already bought).
Nevertheless I want Symbian fixed to the latest state of S60v5 (like Nokia did) or updated to S3.

Greetings

Well that's obviously never going to happen due to the fact that a lot of people will be seriously pissed off. What about the people that paid a lot for Symbian applications and won't be able to use them on Android? What about the people who want Symbian for whatever reason?

People paid for a Symbian phone, Sony Ericsson delivered. They can't change the OS because then they are not giving the consumer what the consumer paid for.

SE just pulled another k850i on us. great hardware but feckall/no software support.↲If you think about it they are struggling to release an android 2.1 firmware update to the x10 while every other android phone will be at 2.2↲my guess is that they just dont have the numbers of staff to mainten phone softwares. so once a phone is produced thats really it no major changes to software as the software coders and testers are moved onto new phones and not kept updating existing software

Well, I'm 100% sure SE won't just do that. They could do an optional change for those that want it to Android, but I'm also 100% sure they won't bother to do that either. The best idea would be if all the manufacturers liberated the software market and made possible for people to install the OS on their phones as they please (this would of course require a lot of change).

I have a Vivaz, and although I'm not really disappointed, it does the job I knew it would (not exactly as advertised but hey), but I know it has the hardware power to do a lot better, if it weren't for the weak software.

There is a rumor about a big new update on the way for the Vivaz (see another thread), but we have no reason to expect any gifts from SE. IMHO at most they will fix some of the bigger bugs - not all by any means, and certainly not those that people flagged -, add some new hyped feature that will turn out to be useless in the end, and some performance improvements, maybe.
