When keying in a SMS and selecting the numeric alphabet, the number of characters that you can key go down from 160 to 70. However, when switching to numeric alpahbet when alphanumeric characters have been keyed in before, it remains 160 characters. And switching from numeric to alphanumeric again does not change the number back to 160.

Why? Is a sms with numbers a different kind of SMS? Or is this a bug?

I use a T600. Message lenght is is set to standard (not long concatenated messages). I switch to numeric by using the * key several times. I read the number of characters on the counter in the upper right corner of the screen.

Any indication of what this is would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I think this issue has to do with how a character is encoded in a message. Usually those non-latin languages, or having specially accented characters.
