Hi,
I just got myself the new SE Vivaz Pro. I've been using it for a few days with no problems. I have ripped Avatar from Blu-Ray to MP4 so I can can put it on my phone. At first I tested it by only ripping a 2 min clip to ensure it was picking up the translation sub titles and the resolution was correct, this was all fine and it played back on the phone with no problem.

I then ripped the entire film to the following settings:

MP4
Res: 640x360
Video Bit Rate: 2048kbps
Frame Rate: 24
Audio Codec: aac
Audio Bit Rate: 128kbps
Sample Rate: 11025Hz

The total file size after ripping is 2.39Gb.

By the way, I used the same settings when doing the small 2 min test which played back fine on the phone.

Ok, so the problem I'm having is that the phone won't detect the video file(the complete ripped film). Even when it does the detect new media thing. I tried the basics like turning the phone off and then back on.

Any ideas why this is happeneing?

2048 kbps? I think that is too much...Phones tend to recognize smaller files...try 1200kbps u should be fine..the quality will pretty much the same as 2048kbps

Hmm. I'll give that a try if I get no other respones as it takes a long time for it to encode the entire film. However, I based these settings on a video that came with the phone. I looked at a video clip called Country Road and it's video bit rate is 3964kbps so my video is considerably less.

Do you think it could be the legnth of the video affecting the phones abilty to see the video file?

I'm currently trying WMV format as when I did a test the qaulity was much better with a smaller file size.

Yeah, I pressed the update media button. But it didnt seem to detect the new file. Not sure what codec it is, all I could tell you is that it's in MP4 and the audio codec is acc.

I'll have a look for this FormatFactory program you used.

That was the program I was using. However, I got it to work. I used FormatFactory with the settings mentioned above and it made the file size about 1.5Gb.

After looking around I found other people had issues with the PS3 not seeing MP4 files over 2Gb so maybe the Vivaz Pro can't see files over 2Gb too. Is this true for other people?

I also realised how slow AVC is! It took 13 hours to convert Avatar(2hrs 40mins). Opposed to FormatFactory which took 5 hours. I also found the using Yamb is very quick in muxing from AVI to MP4 only taking a few mins, but I found that the frame rate was a very poor.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

For some more tip for FormatFactory

I used AVCH264 MP4 640*360 bitrate running at 1200 framerate 29.97
and I found acc bitrate 192/48000 is better in average performance

for subtitle open second sub-menu it can work increase font size
you also can pick font style in option as you flavor
if your file have multi-subtitle pick 0 for first sub

usually took me 3 hours for each converting from MKV blu-ray file
my cpu amd x4 2.6Ghz

2000kbps is ok. If the satio could take it vivaz can too.. i use 1500-1600 depending on the movie. Even 2000 if i will be using TV out. just make sure you cancel the media update after you unplug the phone from PC, because it will cause the video to lag while playing (search uses alot of power :/ ). I think it can handle about 3000 (not tested but i think). Use badaboom. It converts it very fast because it uses CUDA.

EDIT: just play it from the file manager.. Same thing. SE media sucks IMO. I use Resco P.V. for pictures and real player for movies (built in). SE media = shit. If powerMP3 would work ok i wouldn't use media at all.
