All morning I have been unable to connect to the internet. My commute to work takes me from the northern San Fernando Valley to Mid-Wilshire in LA, and all along the way I couldn't view either AT&T's "Hear It, See It" home page, or other third-party sites like Esato. Voice calls worked, as did SMS. I've never touched the pre-loaded GPRS settings, and I pay my bill on time.

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem, or if it's just a problem with my account?

Okay I have an update. Just got of the phone with a csr.

AT&T IS, in fact, doing some maintenance on their wireless data network today, and the GPRS system will be down for 24-48 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But the thing about it that pisses me off is the fact that AT&T hasn't made the effort to post this information on their Wireless Support Forum ( http://forums.attwireless.com/attws ). They even have a thread designated specifically for news about their network status ( http://forums.attwireless.com/attws/board?board.id=network ), yet there's not a single message posted there!

It would have been nice to have been able to check the net status on the web, but instead I was given the pleasure of holding-on for 5 minutes so I could request this info from a csr.

Okay, now the following message is on thier 'Network Status' message board:

Quote:
Due to a SMSC failure customers are unable to send or receive SMS sporadically. There is no ETR at this time. In addition MWI is also impacted.

I appreciate the update, but a more descriptive message would be better. SMSC, ETR, MWI? Where's my decoder ring?!?

Those of you shopping for new service providers, take note of this fine level of customer service offered by At&t.
