Hi all,

A friends having a problem with her C903 it went flat and now its given "Please use a sony ericsson battery" error. I've red a few things and guess it just needs the software updating from the SE website? Is there anyway to get the files, contacts etc off the phone (not sure if the contacts are on the sim or not). Dont seem to be able to contact to myphone explorer like i could with my c902 as the phone only stays on for 10secs and then turns off.

Any ideas?
Cheers

Yes, you can get all the necessary stuff like messages, contacts, tasks, notes etc with A2uploader or FAR Manager. AFter backing up the files, you can safely update/reinstall the software and restore the files. [addsig]

Ok no probs, also noticed there's no copy button on A2 is it just drag and drop to backup the files to the pc?

You can drag n drop files from PC to phone, but not the vice versa.
In order to backup a file from phone' filesystem, you need to right click on the file and click "read".
Now A2uplaoder will create a folder named "ph_out" in the directory/folder where you've a2uploader which contains all the files you just copied from phone.

Check and tell me if read is supported. [addsig]

OKEY HERE YOU GO!

For SMS backup go to tpa\system\messaging\db and copy the two files named:
1. msg.dbf
2. msg_int.dbf

(2nd file contains all of your sms while the first files has info like when a msg was replied, forwarded etc and also it contains the categories info)

For Phonebook Contacts, Calender items,CodeMemo, Notes & task backup the following files:
1. tpa\system\phonebook.dbf
2.All files in the folder tpa\user\system\ (5 files)

For Bookmarks,
Copy the files from usb\webpage\bookmarks\

EDIT: Also make a backup of 'sys' folder in the root directory. It is sometimes important to backup your GDFS.

Hope it helps!

regards,
buntoo

Hi,
I have the Battery Error on my C903.
I just wanted to check something though.
The error occured when my phone said there was a message waiting, but the memory was full. It prompted me to delete something. I tried to delete an MP3. My phone went black and when it came back on all my SMS messages appeared to have gone as had my contacts.
If I follow the instructions for copying the files do you think the files are still there or do you think they have been erased?
Maybe the software problem is stopping the phone reading them? (Sorry I don't know what I'm talking about!)
Hope you can help!
