Hi All,

Recently got the Elm which has been an upgrade to my trusty k750i, and I do love it for it's quality and ease of use. One of the features touted in some reviews before I got this phone was it's ability to have instant messaging, and since I got it, I can't see such a feature.

I have since downloaded MiniFring which seems to work and allows me to message MSN, Skype and AIM contacts, but there is no notification when an incoming message arrives, and it is very basic!

I was wondering if any of you may know of an alternative IM client/service that is compatible with Elm, or if such a feature is built into the phone? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

nimbuzz is good..to receive notifications i think you shouldn't close the app but should leave it running in the background

Hi,

Thanks for the replies! I will try out both eBuddy and Nimbuzz soon. With MiniFring, it works great, even in the background, but it still doesn't give any sound or vibration to notify you of an incoming message, so it is next to useless unless you want to initiate a chat...Hopefully the 2 suggestions made will change this

Cheers,

J

I used eBuddy for a few years, and it does use vibration to notify when running in the background. Haven't tried it on my Elm though because I have an iPod Touch now (with a MiFi) so I don't need the phone for IM.
