Any battery difference to selecting Packet Data connection "When Required" to "When Available" |

On My Satio I have the two options
"When avaialble"
"When required" in Settings-->Connectivity--->Admin. Settings-->Packet Data-->Packet data connection,
Does selecting "When Required" use less battery as your not logging onto the data network ? or does it make any difference ? |

No! it doesn't. It's better to leave it when available if you use your phone's internet as it will constantly lose connection. There is no downgrade on battery performance, that is only via 3G to 2G connection. |

You don't loose your connection on both things.this options shows/hides the connections arrows when you are not online. |

True, but it does not just allow it to show arrows underneath the icon. Otherwise it would clearly say show or hide arrows. This lets you connect without sending packet data so your next connection to the net would be quicker, please don't post false information. |

Yes, but does it setup an initial data connection and thus using your battery every time you move around?
or is it just an indication that data is available for use in the cell?
I think I will leave it to "When Required". |

5 years ago the n73 was not even launched lol. And symbian is not 10 years on the market...i also use symbian a long time since the 3650 was out (and thats about 7 or 8 years ago) so i also know some things ok?
thats what the help in the phone says:
Packet data connection--Select
WHEN AVAILABLE to register to the packet data network when you turn on your phone in a network that supports packet data. Select
WHEN REQUIRED to establish a packet data connection only when an application or acton requires it.
so it just register the phone to show that you have packet data... but it doesnt connect the phone. or i dont understand it right??

My figures were an estimate, why should I bother calculating real figures.
And I didn't say it connects I said it allows you to connect faster and according to your source; it registers to the packet data which does give you a faster connection. |
