I wanted to use my 12mp cameraphone to make HDR pictures (yes, yes, now considered overused, but dammit, I think they look cool), but I could never hold the thing still enough to take 3 separate photos after fiddling with the controls to change the exposure values. What I really needed was to put it on a tripod, but as I'm sure you're aware, cameraphones do not normally come with a tapped tripod thread. So, I made a cameraphone tripod adapter.

The clamp

E-clamp

E-clamp

It's a 30 cent piece of aluminum flashing from Home Depot covered in a thick fabric black tape, secured with a 10 cent nut cap via a drilled 1/4" hole. Bent it using my hands and pliers, and cut out a window of sorts with metal shears to allow access to the touchscreen menu. The bend in the aluminum grips the phone pretty tight.

Example HDR pics

Sunset tracks - HDR

Path trees

They're not perfect, and are my first real attempts at making one of these. The clouds are a bit blown out in the railroad pic, but I'm happy with the final results.

Open source software I used to make HDR photos

Feel free to use, modify, or improve upon the design.

Nope, just a Pixon12. Every picture in my flickr photostream (since March of this year, when I got the phone) is taken with it.

nice effort dude! Was thinking the same thing. What do you think, is it better to use regular phone holder for cars?It provides extra grip because it can be tightened, allthough i am not sure can you use touch screen controls for reducing EV.
Btw how many shots you use to make HDR photos? 3?

Great idea! I think more people (and tripod manufacturers) should actually consider this idea!

used to have a kit like this for the K800 I think... dunno why they never continued it.
