SE and Nokia will sell phones with the Symbian operating system in the future. And that OS crushes Microsofts poor excuse for a mobile operating system in every possible way.
Those who own the SPV should run off and play with it, hurry before it crashes!

Nothing to fear. Symbian has already made a name for itselves being fast, stable and durable. Other manufactorers than Nokia and SE have realised this as well, and will be using Symbian OS in their future smartphones/PDA-phones. M$ is making a huge mistake trying push forward their crappy OS into this industry. My prediction is that they will fail miserably.

Well, I'm not agree... because according to The Times (UK) more than 40.000 SPV have been sold since December 2002. The cost of the SPV is something like 250Euros with carrier contract and 450Euros sim-free.
FYI: The Tanager (an SPV brother), will be sold in March by T-Mobile in Germany. Samsung and Compal smartphones will be launch this year in USA, Honk-Kong and Taiwan.
And to finish, according to the modaco.com forum, the SPV seems to not be a really bugged phone like some detractors are saying...
My conclusion:
YES, I LIKE SONYERICSSON BUT I'M AFRAID THEY WILL LOSE THE HIGHT TECH LEADERSHIP... BECAUSE MICROSOFT USE THE OEM STRATEGY TO CONQUEST THE MOBILE WORLD AND TO PRODUCE LOW COST PHONES.

With two (poosibly three - motorola?) of the biggest mobile phone companies backing Symbian, Microsoft doesn't stand a chance in the mobile phone market.
As for the cost of the phone, that's got nothing to do with Microsoft. That's down to the cost of producing the phone. If a manufacturer made a phone with the same features as the SPV, it would cost the same.

Yep. Samsung is playing for both teams though, they'll be releasing a Symbian powered phone as well. And so will Motorola and Siemens and some others who's name I cannot remember. So what do you think will happen to MS when all the major manufactorers have chosen Symbian?

I dont think ms will get a large market share 4 cellfones. Just look at their pocket pc, palm os stil leads compared to them. Unless of course if they change their strategy.

After the super-triple-sommersault-sky-kick-double-cross they did on Sendo, I don't think any of the major mobile phone manufacturers will take on MS soon. Sendo learnt a bitter lesson and is now taking refuge with Symbian. |

i can play mario on my p800 but it's just slow.
NEway. I am afraid that Orange will have much more software tho, because it will be on lot's of phones and so developers will make more for it. symbain 7 is only on the p800 and p802 so we get a lot less software.
I HAVE A P800!!!!!!!!! |
