Please hold back your laughter, as best you can, to my question. This is the first cell phone I have ever owned. I am 73 years old and trying desperately to keep up with the world.

I have the Sony Ericsson c902.

How do I turn the durned thing off?

Thanks.

DonaldS

(you can start laughing now, but just long enough to give me an answer.)

Hi and welcome. Age doesn't matter here

You should find a button up the C key.

tranced,

Holy Moley!!! That seemed to work . . . I think.

I say, "I think", because after I press and hold the key above the "C", the screen does indeed go blank, but, if I hit any key on the keyboard, it starts up again. I mean, if the unit is turned Off, hitting any key should have no effect, like for instance hitting any key on a computer keyboard when the computer is turned off.

Thank you so much for your reply, though.

So does it turn on by pressing any key? That shouldn't be.

When you press and hold the end key(that's how it's called) in the home screen, it should go off(making the sound and showing the logo). After that you should press that same key to turn it on again. NOT any key.

Yep. It turns on by pressing any key, (after pressing and holding the "End" key.)

I agree, that shouldn't be. I'll check with the cell phone store that sold it to me.

I had the same problems turning my phone on

Does it show the starting up screen when you press any key:

or does it show standby screen immediately when you press any key?
Maybe phone is just in sleep mode instead of turned off

Aha! Yes, it was just in "sleep" mode. This time I held down the "End" key until that animated start-up image (the green icon that changed to Orange and flashed on and off, appeared. This time it was definitely Off. I hit other keys and nothing happened. I guess I'm not sure what the "standby screen" is, so I will not attempt to comment on that.

Thank you, both of you, for your help and patience in this issue. I sincerely appreciate the fact that you took the time to help his old geezer.

Great attitude DonaldS. My grandparents are also in their 70's, and I can't imagine them searching over the internet, in forums, for cell phone advices like you are doing... When I get myself with your age, I hope I'll be able to "to keep up with the world" as you are!

Cheers to you mate!

Thanks for the great support on this forum. I appreciate it.

This is day 2 of ownership of the Sony Ericsson c902 and I have learned quiet a bit about it. Not the least of which was learning how to turn it off. hahahahahahahahahahaha

Anyway, I hit YouTube extensively last evening and picked up another couple of things that any normal person would have guessed at right away. All in all, this is turning out to be a, "non-buyers remorse" purchase. Today is being spent fine tuning the camera experience.

I'll keep you all posted when I feel that I have obtained a picture of any merit.

Good luck DonaldS.

You can find more pictures taken with the C902 in this thread.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Good one.

I find it hard to believe too, but, sadly I am 73. Graduated from McCook (Nebraska) High School in 1955, entered the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1956.

I guess you'll just have to take it as an article of faith, that old people do exist. lol.
