Taken from a post
Quote:
this past sunday a friend left his t39 in his cargo pants and put the phone through the wash. he didn't realize what happened until his dryer started to bang. he found the phone in his pants pocket. two days later after the phone dried out he turned it back on and it came back to life. everything works, IR, bluetooth, voice recognition. absolutely amazing! the phone was submerged underwater for 18 minutes and then tumbled dry.

what do you think of them apples??

Gosh and you really want to compare a ericsson with a nokia.
Don't make me laugh

I dont know where, but i read a report on how well phones survived being exposed to water. The T39 came out on top of that with about 15 mins totally submerged before any damage accured. Sorry cant remember any other results

If I were the proud owner of a pre soaked T39 I would stast copying all my information out of it, because it could die quite suddenly! Consider the phone a ticking timebomb!

That IS pretty amazing!! But yeah, I agree, I'd be surprised if it will still be working in a few months...

Good luck anyway...whoever he is....

i don't think the t68 would survive a trip like that, (the colour screen etc.)
the t39 looks tougher than the t68 (except for the flip-cover)

I've read a topic about phone endurance test on old wap.com when T39 was just launched. T39 was the first phone, had best overal results at this tests(dust, pressure, water resistance, heat tests etc...).
although i recommend you to use it careful.

slightly related: try and find the post on www.infosync.no (great site btw) about mmc cards durability... pretty amazing shit there too i don't agree completely with all those articles saying t39 is very good at resisting water... i had my old t39 in my jacket a day when it was raining... and for 2 days i could hardly hear the persons who called me... but that passed luckily... better than my 3330 which died from water damage... never found out when it had been in actual contact with water :/

The Swedish news paper aftonbladet did a test of how well the phones can handle moist and water. And guess what, the winner was T39

http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/story/0,2789,129709,00.html

The article is in Swedish, but says the the winner is T39!

Can someone explain to my why the whole link doesnt get "underlined", just checked some other links and some were underlined and some dont, how come?
