Hi, I am about to get x10i from saudi arabia, and i just saw tht it doesnt have market!! Many people at xda-developers also got the same problem. Well i dont need arabic, so can I install the uk version? Also if i do follow this tutorial, will i get the market?

Offtopic: when i was playing around with x10, i did notice that it would miss some screen taps while writing an sms. Have anyone else got this?

Alright well bad news (at least for me haha) but here goes

the x10a version (at least the one i got from rogers) runs on [...] 1900/2100 (frequency).
the x10i version runs on [...] 1700/2100.

Now i just went to windmobile and tried one of their sim cards to see if it would work because they use both the 1700 and 2100 and you know what, it doesn't as it shows me as "Away Zone" even though it should say "Home Zone".

So even if people were to flash their firmware, the frequency will be limited to the hardware. Guess i have to return my x10 at rogers for a full refund...hopefully they will still take it in after the flash and unlocking haha.

If anyone knows any good users selling x10i on ebay or other websites, let me know thx =)

edit: btw i live in Canada.

@159159 there are plenty of reputable ebayers selling the x10i for a very reasonable ~$600 price ! the X10a is what is going at a premium right now!

@lollylost where are you downloading it from? Could you provide a link so others can try?

I'm not sure I understand 159159... so what you're saying is your X10a still runs on 1900/2100 freq? Then that means it should still work on 3G with Rogers, right? If that's the case, then it means for the rest of us who want to upgrade the firmware and still use it on Rogers... it works! Am I understanding you correctly?

Are you able to try for us using your flashed X10a on Rogers? Does the phone still register as being on 3G when using a Rogers SIM card?

i bought my x10a from rogers locked so yes it always ran on 3G. What i wanted to do was flash the firmware to a x10i model which has 1700/2100 which i would need for windmobile...but it doesn't work. Even though my current phone is flashed and in model number it appears as "x10i", it still works on rogers and probably on telus and bell but i haven't tested on those 2, but for sure it still works on rogers 3g as i quickly tested with my friends rogers sim card.

@moogoo
Yea after i posted i actually started looking around and they are pretty much $600, and found a person on xda who has a x10i who's looking for a x10a...pm'ed him about a trade. If the trade doesn't go down, i'll just return it at rogers store and hope to get my full refund or try to sell it and buy an x10i.

Which province are you in? I'm in SK/AB weekends and I'll be travelling to Europe at the end of May. I can get an X10i if you are interested.

Btw 3G works on the unbranded X10a, even though the model reads as X10i. Just checked this today.

159159, it doesn't work that way.

If you want the X10 to work on Wind Mobile, you would need to buy the X10 version with the correct bands. Flashing a firmware with the international version would not enable those two bands. The bands are hardware dependent. X10a would always have the correct bands for Rogers, Telus, Bell even if you flash to a X10i firmware and vice versa.

Hey Lollylost100, any success with grabbing the X10a generic firmware and getting it posted? Not trying to push you, just wondering.

Thanks for all the effort!

That's great news based on what you guys have said about X10a flashed with X10i firmware. In that case, do we still need the X10a firmware upgrade? What drawbacks are there with using X10i firmware on X10a if 3G works and you get the updates from the new firmware?
