I completely agree. I only takes one silly person to mess it up for others

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted here now.
But some of you may remember the topics I've been known to create about removing branding.

I'm thinking about changing phone from my trusty C905 to an X10, but would obviously want to change to generic firmware.

I've done extensive searching but have been unable to find any information on doing this with the X10.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers!

The guys at modaco are generally the first with all the Android custom ROM's, Mods etc,
And going by the feedback they receive, their fixes seem to work well although I have to make it clear I have not used any myself (Until audible make a player available and Google offer navigation in the UK and Europe, and my current contract runs out I am holding back on making a choice) But it is a good site with lots of info that most people who have opted for the X10 will no doubt find helpful
http://android.modaco.com/
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

Well I got my X10 today Very impressive.

Would someone with a generic UK (or Western Europe) X10 who has done an update via SEUS, please upload the smallest of the files named "FILE_***_INFILE_LONGTERM" (replace *** with numbers and underscores) from the SEUS blob_fs directory?

Most likely found in a similar place to this: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony Ericsson\\Update Service\\db\\XXXXXXXX\\blob_fs
The file will be called something like this FILE_275196594_1264160155400_1224031941000_274166891_87661_INFILE_LONGTERM and be around 60kilobytes.

Thanks in advance

@5H4K, Cheers. Is it not branded as in the box, phone case and firmware do not contain any Vodafone logos etc?
If I remember correctly the firmware is still not classed as generic though - it must have some different settings or something - see this post on the Vodafone forum!

Box isn't branded, no Vodafone on the phone itself, no Vodafone logo on bootup or shut down, no 16,000 Vodafone live icons on the menu, etc.

Although there's an icon to Vodafone music store and Vodafone live 360 but they are in the menu without being over-imposing like normal.

So all you need is this blob fs file or files? That seems a bit too simple surely there is more to it then that?

Oh yeah - I didn't notice the "Music Shop" icon was anything to do with Vodafone until you just said it It is indeed not anywhere near as intrustive as normal!!

@xperia_man, would you mind doing a software update via the SEUS on your generic unit?

If so delete everything from C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony Ericsson\\Update Service\\db\\XXXXXXXX\\blob_fs before downloading and updating your phone.

Once complete please upload the smallest of the files named "FILE_***_INFILE_LONGTERM" (replace *** with numbers and underscores) from the SEUS blob_fs directory somewhere for us.
